Enduro seat experience.

Actually, I kinda want to raise the seat. I could probably kill two birds with one stone by sandwiching David's U-bracket between the seat's rubber pads and some additional pads attached to the bracket. Of course, I'd also have to affix additional rubber "feet" to the other seat pads and extend the front mounting stud. Seems do-able.

Sure, but inserting anything between the seat and the fender would raise it.

Chad's approach should work, something to consider as I also wouldn't mind the Enduro seat being an inch taller.

Sure there must be a way of doing it that doesn't raise it, or if only by the thickness of the metal used. I ws thinking in terms of side straps that go down to the fender fixing bolts. The seat will still sit on its rubber bushes, which contact the fender.

I've had the enduro seat on the 'Chernobyl for a few months now and I just removed it to facilitate some maintenance, so here are my unsolicited thoughts:

- Even though the bike has been garaged for weeks and I can't remember the last time it got wet, when I leaned the seat against the bike, a considerable amount of water drained out. That really surprised me.

- Despite adding the knurl knobs to attach the rear of the seat, it was more annoying to remove and install the enduro than the tractor seat. Also, when the tractor seat is removed, I have ready access to the battery and relays. After removing the enduro seat, you still gotta remove the seat mounting plate to access these components.
- It sits lower than my hockey-pucked tractor saddle, which I like from a wind protection / noise reduction standpoint, when my fairing is installed. Of course, the lower height means my defective knees need to be bent at a less-than-ideal angle. I can always scoot back on the enduro seat, but when I do, I can definitely tell that I'm over the rear fender because the foam is much thinner and less comfortable.
- It retains heat. This might be a plus in the winter, but during summer riding, I can definitely tell a ventilation / heat accumulation difference and I don't care for it.
- I miss the height and width of the rear tractor saddle. It was my little helmet perch and utility table. The enduro is okay for these purposes, but the tractor saddle was better.

For me, it's kind of a toss-up between the tractor saddle and the enduro seat. There are pros and cons to each, but I think I'm favoring the tractor saddles, so I plan to reinstall them.

Recall the heavy overnight rain that we had at the Gettysburg BGR on Saturday, 1st June. Our rigs got equally soaked. Perhaps the draining dates from that event?

Oh, yeah! How could I forget that torrential downpour?! Also, how could all that water get INTO the seat?!

I've tried a lot of seats and mountings on my Urals, I've come to the conclusion that the ergonomics of the motorcycle are just not right for my comfort.
That being said, I only run my GearUp off road, short local jaunts, and snow, It's no longer my daily driver. I love that Enduro seat for my use, I wish I had it on there a long time ago, not so sure I'd like it as much for a daily driver though for a lot of the reasons that Chad mentioned.

I can relate to that. While the OE tractor seats are not as comfortable as the deluxe swing seat, or classic HD tractor seat, I didn't find them to be that bad with a cushion cover, and closed cell foam between the rubber layers.

Being almost Halloween, I thought I would resurrect this because I wanted to do this on my Gobi. Worst place ever to put a couple bolts. I've used the knurled heads on my Harley and Suzuki and love them. I did lose one on the HD that rattled loose. I don't see why there isn't a latch type operation (like on the sidecar seat bottom) similar to what was suggested earlier for the rear bolts. I was considering using lock washers for the rear. There just isn't room to get my hands under there but also, I have a long sordid history with stripping hex bolts. As for the nut up front, I went with knurled nut. That is easier access so I will probably stick with that up front. Need to think about this more but I was curious how y'all who have done it have held up.
