Introduction

Post by stickerbush » Mon Nov 18, 2019 2:00 pm

Hi Everyone,

I'm Mark, just joined the forum here. I live in a rural area near Seattle Washington USA, perfect area for tooling around in a sidecar rig. I've been riding motorcycles for about 20 years, had my 3-wheel endorsement for while but have never owned a sidecar. I'm in the market for a used Ural, probably 2007 or later, probably a Retro or Tourist, but nothing set in stone at this point.

It's great to have a community and a resource like this for support!

Regards,
Mark

The Ural HQ is in the Seattle area, stop in and check them out. I'm sure they will give you a tour and answer all your questions. :D

Company HQ is in Redmond. Swing by and ask for Jason R. When I stopped by he gave me the 50 cent tour and had a fleet of used R&D bikes in the back that he and friends ride. Maybe he would have something/ know of something used and cheap?

Ahh, another one of the doomed, welcome.

Not solid yet but a friend has a GU he thinks his wife will want to sell. 350 miles and well setup. I told him freight was going to be a discussion item if he can't sell up here.

:boogie: I have a Ural now!

Just picked up a 2012 Patrol. Here are a couple of shots taken on the ferry ride home.

And another in our driveway.

The 6 mile ride home, my first on a sidecar rig since I got my endorsement about 8 years ago, was wet but uneventful. Very much looking forward to improving my riding skills and enjoying the Ural!

It looks great and you got a great year "carbie" at that. No fault codes or other new technology magic.

Check your rims for manufacturing date. A bad batch made in 2011 but found on some 2012 and later rigs is well known fact. Use the SEARCH function here using "Cracked Rim Recall" as you key words. Recent case on I think a 2015 that had one 2011 rim, go figure?

There was a recall on them (certain dates) and just in case I'm sure the company would like to replace them prior to... you know what.

Ride Safe & Happy

PS: love that spotlight on the front of the tub. If you are going to ride off-road I'd re-locate it to the area by or within the sidecar step which is tons more protected. Don't ask me why I know this, HaHa.

You will go to the front of the line and pay about $7.00 to ride the ferry(you already knew that).
They treat the Ural like a Motorcycle and give preferential treatment. Sometimes I ride to Port Orchard and ride the Ferry home. It costs abouit $1.00 more than the bridge toll and I miss the mess in Tacoma.
I am glad you found a good rig. I really like the white. This is a good place to get your questions asked and answered.
