Leaking Front Shock

Post by edmKC » Sun Jun 30, 2019 7:56 pm

My right front shock is leaking on my 2012 Patrol. Are these rebuildable? If not, is there an aftermarket replacement or am I stuck buying one from Ural?

Your Sachs shocks are not rebuildable. OEM replacements are the quickest and easiest solution. If you can find Hagons, they're an aftermarket option.

Thought likely. Thanks for the tip on the Hagons - I'll do some searching.

Another option is to find some old Russian Ural shocks, which ARE rebuildable and were designed for Ural use, but have inferior performance to the Sachs.

Check with Gene, Holopaw Ural. He might still have some Russian shocks. They are serviceable.

Local prices seem pretty steep, but I assume they are for Sachs.

Are these worthwhile, or junk:

Hopefully the link works.

Looks like standard Russian shocks. Not junk, but not quite as good as the Sachs upgrade.
