Also, please note that this is with 18" rims and K28 tires. 19" rims and knobbies will have a little less clearance, but you're still not gonna contact the knurl-knobs.

For what it’s worth, I went out and looked at my Gear Up last night. With 19” wheels, 307 knobby, rubber bushings in the swing arm, and clapped out shocks, the tire shows evidence of bottoming out on the tail light wire channel. I knew that it was because I could hear and feel it while trail riding. I’m 200 pounds +\-, and I have the old style bench seat that hooks into the brackets, I wouldn’t use those knurled nuts on my off road rig.
I wonder if it’s possible to bend and drill a piece of band iron in a U shape and bolt it to the Seat bottom and the fender stay bolts. To me it would seem easier to remove and reinstall the seat.

I know the rubber bump stops should be the limiting factor, but I have also experienced knobbies rubbing the wire channel with my old shocks. I haven't experienced it in a few years after replacing the rear shocks with used Sachs.

And now that I've chimed in on this thread... I am a fan of the Enduro seat with the exception of the rear mounts. I have tried MANY different seats on my Urals, and for me it is the most functional and comfortable of the options available. The only seat that exceeded it in comfort was an old Rich Maund café styled bench that he used to offer. But that thing was uglier than sin and limited the ability to slide around.

If I had any desire to use my bench seat, I would forgo all the threaded fasteners, and use a remote release latch.

Yes it has loads of rubber 'feet' so actually all the bracket/strap has to do is hold it down and stop it wriggling sideways. In other words, the bracket doesn't have to bear the riders' weight.

PS, for those that don't know, the Enduro seat base is a plastic moulding.

Any bracket can't raise the profile of the seat, as that would cause the rubber feet to no longer bear the rider's weight and warp the pan.

That's the main reason I gave up on the bracket idea.

But we don't want to raise the seat, we just want to secure it at the back.
