I find it relatively easy to install one, but then the other is a pain to line up. This is true also for the hex head bolt, it's not the fault of the knurled knob. It'll take working out a technique to wiggle the seat into the right position for the bolt to line up with the thread.

One of the other things I'm reminded of having the bench seat -- it makes a good roadside sofa for when you're wrenching on the rig!

As been said, is obviously subjective, seems if you're not tall and heavy Enduro might be OK.

Which model is it OE on, Patrol or GU? (Can't remember)

I received the same bolts today. My first impression is that they are quite larger than the image in the Amazon ad suggested. I'm concerned about clearance issues on the underside of the rear fender.

Give it a shot, you'll see that they don't really protrude more than a few millimeters past other things that you would be hitting with your tire if there was a clearance issue.

Someone could definitively measure, but it's good enough for government work.

For the knurl-knobs? Super easy install. For the Enduro seat as a whole? Only issue was that awkward to reach front nut.

I'm concerned about clearance issues on the underside of the rear fender.

You've ridden with the new bolts in situ, and there wasn't any perceived or observed contact with the rear tire, I presume?

Only a proper road test will provide useful data here, Mike. The air space between the fender and the Duro on my unladen rig isn't so large that I shouldn't proceed a bit cautiously here, vis-à-vis being concerned about the protruding length of the knurled bolts.

I did attempt to fully compress the rear suspension whilst the bike sits in the garage, but I'm not strong (or fat) enough to do so. Pressing down vigorously on the rear of the Enduro seat simply compressed the outboard shock about halfway, if that; the inboard one moved just a smidgen.

The silver lining here is that Pennsylvania roads are...not the best. After the mercury rises a bit above 5F/-15C (today's morning temperature), I'll install the new bolts and have a go on the lumps and bumps of our A and B roads.

I've compressed the rear shocks while they're installed with ratchet straps. The rear only has a few inches of travel. Perhaps next time I do it, I'll take a measurement. Or perhaps it's already listed online somewhere.

Of course. And I have a new set of straps, received for Christmas, sitting maybe 10 feet from the rig. The cold is affecting my brain.

An awful lot of faffing about, I thought surely it's simple just to measure between fender and tire, then the exposed rod of the shocks. Not done it mind you.

While that technique would probably get you in the ballpark, remember that the axle is located beyond the lower shock mount and, as a result, it travels a greater distance than the lower shock mount.

OK, true, but if say, you did it, and the fender to tire distance was loads more than the shock travel distance, then OK. If both measurements were much closer, then start to worry. But as I said I've not done it (seems simple to me while sitting here in an armchair thinking about it )
