Ural OBD App. for reading/resetting ECU codes

Woe unto you that bought the first model year of a major remake, perhaps this section can help address any 2014 and later model Ural "imperfections". Here's a special section for folks with the latest rigs to discuss 2014 and later model-related topics such fuel injection, 3-wheel disc brakes, hydraulic steering dampers, spin-on oil filters and other anomalies that don't belong on true Russsian motorcycle ;-P We've gone from using big hammers and greasy wrenches to needing computers and Ouija boards in order to fix our rigs.

Please keep this section specific to issues pertaining to 2014 and later models such as fuel injection, sidecar and rear disc brakes and so forth. Ask general or non-2014 and later specific questions in the main Hammerin' & Wrenchin' section.

Ural OBD App. for reading/resetting ECU codes

Post by Kaliram » Sat Dec 07, 2019 1:28 pm

I just found this free app. At the Apple App Store: Ural Motorcycle OBD App. for reading/resetting ECU codes.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ural-moto ... 1457652319

No reviews on it. I assume it will read codes for Both as well as 2019-2020 model ECU’s, when the appropriate dongle is attached.

Anyone ou there with any knowledge or experience with it?

Note: I went looking for something like this when my 2019 Gear
Up MIL light came on, but there were no blink codes. Apparently many errors don’t actually have blink codes associated with them, so they can only be accessed with a code reader or the dealer’s computer.

Sometimes the MIL light can be turned off with a series of engine
Key gymnastics which Heindl Engineering has as excellent video of. However it didn’t work for me, and so I had to make a 289 mile round trip in 35-40 degree weather to the dealer to get the codes cleared and the MIL turned off. (Fortunately I have really good grip heaters and heated vest!)

Another note: my dealer told me that in his talks with the Mothership, he has been told that Ural will be coming out with end user hardware/software for doing ECU diagnostics. When? - I have no idea. - Has anyone else info. on this rumor? - Is this the app?
