Casing oil ports

Post by Mike/Kay » Thu May 11, 2017 5:44 pm

Still searching for clues to the unusual noise my 2000 BC made at the Crap Rally. Two questions follow: One cylinder wall has 3 small holes and 1 hole at the opposite end. The other cylinder has the same 3 holes but no hole at its opposite end ??? Next question: The centered holes at the bottom of each engine cylinder mating surface have different diameters. The inboard is 0.093" but the outboard oil hole is 0.1875", or twice the size. Does the inboard cylinder run hotter so that oil return hole needs to be smaller to keep oil from draining as fast??? Are your 650 engines the same configuration?

I might be able to tear my RPOC motor apart tomorrow when I get home from work, Mike, but the missus and I are heading out of town for the weekend, so I may not have the opportunity. If not, I'll do it when we return and post some pics of my findings.
