Just fired motor up after work was done and gearbox bolted back up, thought i made sure release rod was seated in square hole installed donut and final drive, rear wheel not on as bike is on stand i built, when i pull in clutch the squeelling sound starts when i leave it out it stops, seams to shift okay, my reverse shifter type that bolts to top of the motor under the tank, will find neutral just fine doesnt seem to engage reverse, is the squeeling sound coming from the release rod not properly beeing seated? Thanks for your input, 1997 650 sportsman

Check the throwout bearing should be between the rod and the plunger. Sometimes the bearing disintergrate...
