Avon grips

Post by outrider » Sun Jul 28, 2019 7:25 pm

My 2017 Gear Up grips just don't cut it any longer now that I have a medical problem with my hands-Dupuytren Contrcature Disease. My hands will get worse as time goes on with fingers curling in.

Can anyone here tell me if they have put Avons on and what size the handle bars are?

Thanks!

I can't help you with Avon tires or Avon grips (never heard of Avon grips, actually. I'm a Biltwell grip man, m'self), but I CAN tell you that modern Urals employ an industry standard 7/8" handlebar.

I know Avon grips for HD and I like them, but they are for 1" handlebars. On a 2017 Ural you should have 7/8" handlebars when I´m informed correctly.
The Avon grips are good to ride, both memory foam and gel type. I doubt, the throttle cable transport will fit into the Italian Ural swith housing.

Avon has made grips forever. I have Avons on my '66 T120R. Paid dearly for them as they are correct for my '66. But they have a barrel shape and are quite comfy. Gran Turismo became the replacement for Avons on Triumphs and BSAs. They are the vinyl barrel shaped grips with the round hilt and are kinda squishy. Always loved the feel of those grips. They are still available today. Fit 7/8" bars.

Ok, here is what I've done.

"Grip Puppies". Ordered on Amazon for $19.00. Cut to desired length, a little soap water and slide on over the stock grip. Huge difference in comfort. Increased circumference which I needed.

Thanks to all for your responses.

I have them on my Dyna and love them. Little pricey but worth it.

I had a pair of Avon grips on my 2014 Patrol. I didn't care for them, just my preference though. I sold the bike with them and have the stock grips on my current rig.
