Final Drive Nuts (2WD)

Post by glacoste » Mon Jul 15, 2019 9:44 am

Wanted to replace the four nuts that mount the FD to the swing arm. Parts call for M10x1.25-6H.
All I can find are M10X1.5 from BellMetric.com. Would these work?
Thanks

No, they need to be the same thread pitch as the stud.

While you're ordering from Belmetric, order one of these Nordlock lock-washers for each fastener.

I had the Nyloc nuts on my 2015 cT's final drive work their way loose, but never had that problem again once the Nordlocks were installed. I even used 'em on my 2001 Patrol's cylinder base studs. They're fantastic!

Van turned me on to Fuji nuts, and are what I used for my M70.

Bellmetric did have the right size, but there not as tall as the original nut. Does that matter?

You need at least 3 full threads of engagement to achieve maximum strength. After 3 full threads it doesn't make much difference if it is 4 threads or 100 threads. I speak from being a journeyman tool and die maker for 40 years.
We may not have it all together,
But, together we have it all.

On my M70 a Fuji nut with plain washer is Ideal, leaving a couple of threads exposed. The studs are a bit short for the OE nylock and nordlock combination.

A bit, but the combination has worked out famously for me.

You want at least 1.5 times the diameter of the threaded fastener engaged in the threads if possible. This engagement will mean the stud will fail before the threads strip.
Just a FWIW from another old die maker.

Have these held up for awhile without issues and are they the same for 2012 GU? Trying to decide these or what TCF has used.

Yes, they have held full torque since I installed them. Same size, M10 X 1.25
