2000 bavarian classic need needle jet and airbox info

Post by uralmike » Sat Jun 29, 2019 6:23 pm

help please
I have a 2000 Bavaria classic I picked up in not running condition due to it sitting several years I am missing a jet /seat for one the of needles
the number on the needle itself is N6NE and I looked online to no avail any ideas ??
or does anyone have any thoughts on changing these out for the k65 Russian carbs ?
also I have this odd air box setup on the bike with a vacuum diaphragm called a speedtrap with a butterfly that sits on top of the airbox
it has vacuum lines running to it from the carb the butterfly opens up outside air to the filter
can I disconnect this mess and plug the lines to the carbs like I see all the other pictures of 650 engines I have looked at
and just get a regular top for the airbox /filter

maybe someone is familiar with what I have here thank you

Hey Mike,

Welcome!

Not familiar with the Speedtrap airbox thing. If you can post a photo, we can tell you more. I, me, would remove it and just run a normal airbox. People do crazy things to try and get more power from a Ural, and that's the vibe I get.

The N6NE needle should be pretty common. Ural NW shows it on their parts list http://www.uralnw.com/Groups/partsprice16.html

You could also just replace both needles with the Raceway versions: http://racewayural.com/product/new-race ... s-pn10332/

Not sure where you're located. If you post your location in your profile, there might be someone local who has parts laying around.

Terry Crawford is an excellent source for parts: http://www.crawfordsales.info

As for swapping from to the K65, CV's and flat slides each have their own advantages/ disadvantages. Many more people here run the CV's that you already have, tuning/ troubleshooting for the K65's is going to be harder to find.

Several bikes use the same Keihin carbs as the Ural, jets and such may be different.

Your airbox is one that was installed on bikes sold in California. All of the vacuum lines have to do with the anti-smog rules in place at the time.
We may not have it all together,
But, together we have it all.
