Only 90 cc in CT 1WD FD, else pukes out of front seal (driveshaft input). Well mine did. 90 cc is min mark on dipstick.

Re the studs they are evidently fooked because they have pulled out. Could now mean holes in FD case are fooked too. :(

PS: I just remembered, I believe Chad (tomcatfixer) found what he thought was a loose washer in his CT FD but was in fact one of the "heads" had pulled off one of the studs, hopefully that's what happened to yours. But if so, means you got a loose bit of metal in there needs removing ASAP.

The studs on a Patrol/2wd are different than those 1wd studs.

I believe that next week will be a busy one checking out final drives....good thought - I certainly hope not, but I am almost certain you are correct - I forsee a new case in my future.....

I believe that next week will be a busy one checking out final drives....good thought - I certainly hope not, but I am almost certain you are correct - I forsee a new case in my future.....
Coincidentally, I've gotta rebuild the 'Chernobyl's final drive (again), since I mysteriously snapped the splined pinion gear shaft.

On the original question. Had same thing happen to my 2011 GearUp. Cleaned, dried, red-loctited. Still would back out. Finally safety-wired all the nuts to each other. Can't back out unless they all turn and that can't happen. Good excuse to get a safety-wire wrench and do a bunch of other spots on the bike. No further problems. Good luck!

I've also used safety wire pliers to secure my final drive nuts to one another.

I know we're talking about three different bikes on this thread now but,

Jeff, there was a misprint in the owner's manual for a couple of years... The correct amount for a drum braked 2wd is 135ml(cc), and 105 ml for a drum braked 1wd. You have been under filling yours.

Thanks for the heads up on the misprint in the owners manual. I looked more closely and see it is incorrect in the first section I looked at and correct in the second area that lists the volume.

Luckily, last week I did my first fluid change and added the correct amount thanks to your post.
