Rich

I have a 2018 CT. Will these work on it? How do the panels attach to the sidecar?

The new style one is made for rigs like yours! It had eyelets in the front to attach to the twist tabs there and it has a magnet at the rear sewn in to hold it to the body! Hope that helps. Just takes a minute to install.

have questions
Rich, did you ever make mudflaps with the embossed IMZ logo, with or without raised white for contrast? I've seen pics of the same, some time ago, but I wasn't able to ID the source.
Back in the 90s and 2000s I made embossed leather mud flaps. I made a molding of the IMZ logo and pressed it into the hot wet raw hide using a hydraulic press. Then I used a wheel to make a trim line around the flap and then I set them in the sun to dry. That could take a couple days. Once dry, I dyed them if wanted and lacquered them then warmed them up with a heat gun and soaked them with Tandy Aussie leather w@*. They were quite labor intensive to build, but a popular item for some time. Eventually the molding I made to emboss the logo cracked apart under pressure and I stopped making them. Back then many owners didn't like the switch from the old fashioned rubber mud flaps with logo to the cheaper plastic ones. I found the plastic offensive and started making my own. It has been some years now since I last made any. Like I mentioned, the mold is broke and gone.
I never painted them white. Perhaps some owners did. Just pressing the rawhide made the dye look slightly two tone as the compressed areas never came out as dark.

Mine came in today. Very well made and fits nicely

Didn’t even think about the magnet being able to hold it open as well as closed till I had it on there. Nice feature if you are loading stuff in and out of the car.

My youngest daughter approves...... she is usually the one in the sidecar :D

Rich, where can one get a strong magnet for your side curtain. A few years back I purchased your older version side curtain which had the round magnet and the magnet (yes I have replaced the tape several times) has scratched, scuffed and gouged the powder coat on the side car. I'm not complaining, but now that I have the time I will learn how to do a little stitching and "upgrade" the magnet. Thanks.

Just do an internet search for "neodymium magnets". They're quite powerful.

Chad is right. Look for the larger size you need too! They can be very tiny. I like the 12mm x 25mm x 4mm size or thereabouts. There are sellers on EBay for them. But you'll often have to wait 5-6 weeks on delivery from Kazakhstan or the hinterlands of Mongolia. Rare earth Magnets don't come from the USA. I bought them 10 or 12 at a time. But I only have a few left stuck to my toolbox right now.

You can drill the rivet out to remove that big magnet. Just try to leave the little hole in the curtain neat. Shoe Goop can be used to glue a neodymium magnet on the curtain. That holds pretty well if you don't sew. I made window curtains for my van for camping and glued a bunch of the tiny high power magnets around the OD of each curtain. Holds it great to keep light out.

I never bought one of these before because I didn’t like the magnet on the outside of the vinyl in direct contact with the paint.
It appears that this last batch had the magnet sandwiched between the layers of fabric.
If you fabricate any more in the old mounting style, with a concealed magnet, I would be a potential buyer.

where can one get a strong magnet for [the homemade] side curtain.
There is confirmed availability of high-strength magnets at Harbor Freight and Home Depot. They are sold in varying sizes.

Note that HD is, and HF possibly may be, controlling the number of persons in their stores at one time. Have your mask ready, and budget for the possibility of standing in line for a bit. Just an FYI.

Folks. I had someone requesting an old style curtain. Since no one wanted that new style one, I took the hardware off, cut slots in it and sewed the black leather patch grommets on it to make into an old style one.

So they are all spoken for now. Thanks for your attention!

Thank you Rich.
I received the side curtain today, it’s a very nicely made, well fitting, quality article.
Thanks for changing the hardware on it for me.

I wish you much happiness in whatever you choose to do next.
