WTB Starter Jets for Keihin CVK32

Post by Pete1163 » Mon Mar 02, 2020 7:12 pm

As the subject states, I am in the market for new starter jets for my Keihin CVK32. When I disassembled my carburetors, I discovered one had a short 125 jet and the other had a 65 jet used for the starter jet. I have the correct main jets (130) and correct pilot jets (45) on both carburetors, so a jet didn't get switched around anywhere else. On another ural forum, I found a decent reference guide that shows a good schematic for the carburetor on page 122 (http://www.russianiron.com/eafranke_ural2/PartV.pdf) that lists the starter jet as the following: N42431065 Starter Jet 65. Unfortunately I have checked around with some dealers and haven't found a jet matching that nomenclature. If anyone can either point me in the write direction of where I can get this starter jet or has a couple of spares that they would like to part with, it would make my day.

Sudco.com or jetsrus.com are both good places to deal with.

Unless seriously clogged up or physically deformed/buggered from a ham fisted owner, you shouldn't ever need to replace the orig 65 starter jets. They relate to the enrichers not the running of the bike. If yours are really fubar check with Terry Crawford. Don't know how common replacement starter jets are but I've bought a variety of pilot and main jets from Terry. He might also have starter jets? What year Ural you working on? I'm no carb guru but no stranger either and 130 mains and 45 pilots are IMHO pretty fat for a 750. What's your issue with your carbs. FWIW my 011 runs 123 mains with 2 shims and 40 pilots. Only reason I swapped from 38 to 40 pilots was for cold winter starting. Keep in mind when tuning/synching/balancing carbs the motor needs to be up to normal operating temp.

I sent an email to Terry, just haven't heard back from him. And technically I only need one 65 to replace the 125 that was in the starter jet spot. I have a Ural 2006 patrol 750cc.

Your main jets are a 99101-393

If you notice, the main and pilot have the same threads. People tend to swap them out in error, the prior owner of your bike probably tried cleaning the carbs, confused the jets, and your 65 is either in a random parts bin or trash.

I was never able to locate the technically correct jet when I ran into an issue back in 2016, but if you want a size 65 that will fit:

https://jetsrus.com/a_jets_by_carbureto ... 28-xxx.htm

The pilot only works with the enricheners on, only impacts cold starts, I think you can get away with putting a 99101-393-065 in both sides and call it good.

I too have had excellent results when buying carb parts from Jets R Us. Shipping as I recall is kind of expensive but last time I ordered from them I bought parts on Wednesday evening and they were in my mailbox on Saturday.

Too help make the shipping costs a bit easier to accept... maybe also buy two needles for the float system. As I recall they are about $45 from Kawasaki, $27 from aftermarket and from Jets R Us they were $7 for aftermarket and $10 for OEM. I used OEM as I think they are the best bang for the buck.

Best,

My local independent motorcycle shop has quite a selection of jets and carburetor parts , you may have a shop nearby as well.

The smaller size jets will work as well in a pinch. I actually run a set of 55's I found in a collection of carb bits from a garage sale of all places. I have never seen them anywhere else. It provides just enough extra fuel for a slightly higher idle without blubbering & wasting fuel, the 65's were to big for my setup. I get a nice clean high idle around 1500rpm on the enricheners, just right for a cold motor start. :)

JetsRUs and go to the Harley section. Same jets. Can buy OEM or aftermarket to save a few pennies. Been buying them there for years.
