Arctic Part Out

Post by GSPearson » Sat Nov 09, 2019 3:54 pm

I wanted a Ural for years and finally found one about five years ago. Since then I’ve put 15,000km on her. I have loved this bike immensely, and have attempted to maintain it with as much love as Ivan himself.

But she just doesn’t love me back.

It’s not her fault, but I just don’t have it in me to repair her anymore. Maybe it’s me. At this point, I don’t even know if I want to ride anymore at all. A couple of days ago she stranded me in the middle of the 2 lane, mile long Roosevelt bridge outside of Kingston, OK.

There are now non-magnetic shards and dust all in the oil pan.

The repair to ride ratio is just too out of balance for me. I know there are those of you that will claim it’s because she was neglected. In my heart, I know she wasn’t, but you’re welcome to your own opinions.

I’m not going any further. This is over.

I’m willing to part this out. Or someone can come take the whole thing.

Give me a shout here or @ 903-288-5720 and I’ll send details and pictures.

Much Love,
Gabe

Hate to hear these kinds of sad stories. But I fully understand the frustration created.

Glad it is in OK. A white Ural would probably be too hard to resist, being a monochromatic kinda guy.

Good luck with the sale. I hope someone buys the entire rig and brings it back to life.

It’s an arctic, so ‘07; it’s also in my signature.

I’m in southern Oklahoma. Far as I can tell the mail works out here.

Clearly states in the original post that I’ll send pics and details to folks that are interested.

I can’t post pics to this site from my phone, anyway. I always get the “file too large” error message.

Update: although I cannot be certain quite yet, the evidence seems to indicate a broken crankshaft. Will confirm once I get the engine out and apart.

That blows. Sounds like the way I felt everytime I came to grips/reality and sold an MG.
'07 was a good year for Ural(s) but I guess someone had to get the last one made on a Friday before a holiday weekend.
Good Luck with your sale.

Sorry to read your post and that your Ural adventure wasn’t what you’d hoped. Sometimes you get a lemon no matter how hard you try an make lemonade.

I’m sorry for your misfortune but I found your post (not your misfortune) rather humorous.
I’ve felt that way many times about my Ural motorcycles, you’re probably smarter than I am, and probably a lot less thick headed 😂 as I keep buying more 😂
Good luck whatever you decide to do.

They all do that, believe me, I know. Who ever came up with the aluminum bearing cage had to been crazy or Russian.
