Ural / Enfield Dealership Selling Stock

Post by bratmanxj » Fri Nov 08, 2019 11:57 am

Now here's a unique Craigslist advertisement. One of the now closed Chicagoland Ural dealers is looking to liquidate their inventory.

Last question is: "What you have got to trade/offer?"

About the same value: "Taco por taco" - interchange one to one?
I closed 1 1/2 years ago my own shop. Have a full stock of proportional control supply in form of valves, sensors and DDC building controls.... all of first notch quality. (, but way above US+CR cheap going customer's expectations.)
Looks like everybody to whom you offer to continue your representation wants to get things on a silver plate as present...
None of the intermediate distributors made a offer.
Now I reopen again as single person vendor/service man for to be able to make at least some income in a legal way.
How I will be able to renounce to it?
The day they take me out of the house feet first, just like several of my colleagues did.

I wish good luck to the seller. May he have much more luck then our local Jawa/Skoda representative, friend Fernando.

One lot. No cherry picking.

That's easy to understand, even if it makes the liquidating the lump sum more difficult for the seller.

Were the same thing to occur locally, and piecemeal buys were allowed, I'd back my truck up to the doors and peel off a dead president every time I tossed something into the bed.

Do Ural motorcycles attract hoarders, or does owning a Ural lead to a hoarding mindset?

I'd be in-line with you. The problem with selling it as "One Lot" is you're crossing multiple brands. If they would be willing to split Ural, Enfield, Scooters, Etc. and sell in lots I'm sure he'd have an easier go at it. Then again, I don't know the whole situation and WHO is doing the selling. If its a family member they may not know the difference between A, B or C.

Edit: And, this is somewhat local for me. About 45min-1hr drive with traffic.

We prefer the term Parts Accumulator.

It's my habit to keep a decent backstock of spares, whether on the shelf or in individual tool kits for each bike. I love having the ability to limit downtime by having parts both common and esoteric ready to go and waiting for installation. And thanks to Jay for stepping up with a spare turn signal housing when I needed one, but didn't have it available.

Every time I think I'm getting close to hoarding, I tell myself, Self, no, it's just being prepared, exactly as you learned in the Scouts. :D

It is not a condition caused by the bike, it is a logical consequence of:
A) The bike requires a "preper kind of rider".
B) The rider is a hoarder by instinct and therefore chooses a Ural.
C) As I use to say. "It is not the rider who chooses the bike, but it is the bike that chooses its rider."

... Or better said in other words:
"We Ural riders are possessed by our rigs!"

That's the guy I bought my new 2010 Solo sT from last year. He was easy to deal with on the bike, wonder how he would deal on these parts.

The ad copy mixes the third person ("Owner now retiring from business...") with the first person ("We were dealers for Ural and Royal Enfield...") It's difficult to determine who the buyer would be dealing with here: the principal, or his point man.

It's Craigslist, though, where complete sentences in any form are a miracle to behold.

A small section of my garage is starting to look like a parts store....I'm willing to expand. Who wants a PA Ural parts dealership?

I asked if they would split out the Ural items.

*BTW, this should prob go in the Grey Market.
