Well, damn, someone posts about an event happening, which I very much appreciated as it is to be held in my state and we were unaware of and then some idiot has to go and criticize it and all that attend to the point that now no one is posting about whether or not they will be attending. It's a damn shame when people feel the need to be keyboard warriors and put forth nasty opinions. Hoping to see some Ural folks there.

I'm on the fence about attending, but with enough Uralista showing up, I'll likely go.
Just gotta decide which day(s).

"Paying to hang out with Jeepfags, poseurs, and shiners? No thanks" For this statement. Posting this right after Van showed a picture o.f his new jeep. Not sure if you intended to take a poke at Van, but that is the way it came out. Would like to put this issue to rest.
Now that's funny
Gobium never misses an opportunity to cry.
First off, this is not gobiums thread, and I was not responding to him, but the shoe certainly fits.
"*fig" is a common descriptive term in the 4x4 community in the area where I live, it's typically used to describe someone who has a highly modified Jeep that talks a big game but you'll never see them in the woods, and if you do, they're spending the whole time trying not to get their precious show vehicle scratched or dirty, I'm sure the Overland Expo is full of them.
I guess that description is a little too close to reality for gobium, hence the bellyaching.

To address these statements;

"On my forum, you called someone fig, instant ban no question ask."
I don't go on gobiums forum but maybe I should, I'm sure it would give him great satisfaction to ban me , besides, I indulge myself with the time for one forum and I'm not going to spend it on "the world according to gobium forum"

"This is why people leave SS."
gobium has threatened to stop posting on SS many times, usually when he doesn't get his way, or he feels like he's not getting the respect he feels like he's "entitled" to, more than once with the threat of punishing us all with the removal of his videos and his presence. Pretty childish in my eyes.

"This is why Sunnyboy dosen't post on SS."
I have no idea who Sunnyboy is but, the world seems to continue to turn without their presence here, as it will without gobium and Jaybird at some point.

"Later."
Indeed.

I see no reason for apologies here, except maybe from gobium for bothering the moderators and everyone else with this.
I do apologize for the thread drift though, and Wish all who are going a good time, even gobium.

For those that do not know who Sunnyboy is he is also known as Ilya Khait the CEO of IMWA. Without him Ural's would not be the bikes they are today.

Thanks Brigitte, this post turned into something I did not intend :/

Are you definitely going? I probably won't be ready to ride my new to me Ural yet but I could take my two wheeled motorbike or go cart on four wheels (Mini Cooper).

I'm super excited to be picking up my Ural this weekend. I have been dreaming of one for many years. I'll be adding a newbie post once I get it home.

He spends half his time in MO and the rest back in Anappolis. Best way to contact him is on his Face Book page "Ural Riders and Lovers".

Well Tsorka did ask who would go...so it's reasonable that people would say if they were or not going and give the reason.

I wouldn't go to an Overland event for many of the same reasons that Jay states.
I'd just state them a little differently...

It use to be the "4x4" or "Jeep" community but that somehow became the "Overland" community.
Most people interested in Overlanding are the same asshats (I can say asshats right?) who drive around the suburbs with a $2500 hard shell pop-up tent on their $60K Wrangler with $20K in accessories and lift kit...and never seem to make it further than Starbucks and Trader Joe's.

These events are to sell "off-road" useless farkles to get "the look" or to get a Pinterest or Instagram photo of the "perfect camping picture."

If you want to see what useful off-road accessories are, look at vehicles that actually GO OFF ROAD!
Want to ACTUALLY ride your Ural off-road in the biggest East Coast Ural ride?
Want to see what REAL bikes who actually get dirty look like and what accessories they choose?
Attend the JDH this weekend.
