It's handled Keith. You, me, Peter, and Chuck are the lucky bunch. We'll meet at the grocery store in Terrebonne that Saturday morning. I'll nail down a time a little closer to the date. See you all there.

Hi gents. For the Memorial day weekend ride, Let's plan on meeting in Terrebonne at 8 a.m. Saturday May 25. At the Thriftway grocery store. Ive done this ride before and we should be into Sisters by 2 or 3 at the latest. When I rode it last spring, I doddled and was there before 2 I believe.

I'll be at Crooked River Ranch for the weekend. Heading home Monday. In case anyone wants to do some more riding.

Argh, talked to Mike last night and between new work assignment with tight deadlines and the Duro 307s I've ordered have yet to arrived, let alone get mounted, I'm probably a scratch for Saturday.

I should know for sure in the next day or so. :(

FYI I run old style points ignition.
Thursday night I loaded the Ural on my camp trailer intending to meet some pals after work Friday. Noticed I had left the switch on for an hour or so. Cooked the coil. "No problem! I'll take the brand new, non ural coil, and fix it there " Friday, drove 3 hours to camp. Swapped out the coil. F#@$ ! Doesn't run right. Swapped points and condenser. Nope. Checked valve gap. Nope. Cancelled the ride I was to lead and hauled it back home. Drove down to Raceway to meet Robby today, Sunday, even tho they're closed. He hands me a new Ural coil. Drove the hour back home and swapped it out. Guess what? Runs perfect now.
1. Don't leave the ignition switch on when it's not running.
2. Robby is an awesome shop owner.

I'll be back over there for Fathers Day. Sagerat 54vintage, let's try to meet up if you're free

Dang, Mike, our Urals are semi-cursed when we are ride leaders. Crows took my keys at Reedsport after Smith River Road ride.

I’ve got a couple of potential routes we could do that are primarily dirt between Terrebonne and Prineville or we could do your Terrebonne-Sisters route.

My new Duro 307s have arrived, so I’ll be tired up.

Sorry to hear of your misadventure, but impressive save by Robby of Raceway. That was truly a Good Ural Peeps performance.

Me thinks we need to start an online discussion on how we are going to pull this off. For starters it seems that there are no services to be had on the first half of section 3 between our starting point and when we reach Crescent Lake. This also goes for route 2....Christmas Valley being a fuel and food gathering stop.....but then this being the end of the ride, it will just be a tank up and hit the road stop.

I think I did mention in a previous post that Summer Lake hot springs is right about where we pull the plug on the ride....might be a good thing to stop there and refresh oneself before heading down the road for home. And as also mentioned, Dan and I are going to forge on for a few days more going farther east.....anyone who would like to, is welcome to do so.

To summarize....we need to have enough fuel, food and water to get to Crescent Lake.....restock there....then have enough to get to Christmas Valley.

Having rode the first section of route five, I can say it never goes as planned, but that's all part of the adventure.

What thoughts have the rest of ye

Chuck
Good points. I am planning on carrying 5 extra gallons gas. I get 25mpg. Meaning about 250 miles before I'm screwed. That shouldn't be a problem. I recommend we all do the same. I believe that should cover each of us to Crescent. That said, there is a cut off back to Lapine from Wikiup. It's 19 miles. Which is less than Crescent. From there we heard back to the route and down to Crescent. From there we don't have to make xmas valley. The route crosses 97 near Chemult. We can top off there.

Now... here's the twist. It looks like we may need to completely re route. The first leg goes over 6000 ft elev. Chuck and Peter can attest to the snow still up there. I'm considering going in reverse order. Leaving from Terrebonne . 10 miles North to RT 4. East to RT 5. Then south. I haven't checked gas yet but I imagine it's about the same or better. I REALLY dont want to head up from Sisters to turn around and back track to pavement all the way to Lapine.
Thoughts please.

Hmm, I’ll be buying OBDR maps this week along with a Rotopax as I get about 24-26 mpg. I agree snow at higher elevation is not good. We can check with various USFS offices for local info.

Or perhaps a recon scout with my Wrangler...

Checking with USFS would be good. Recon with the wrangler would be much better.....it would be a tough job....but I'm sure you're up to doing the dirty work
