I am in better shape now.
If this gathering of Urals is still happening next year. I’m thinking the same time frame, around the first week of Feb. 2020 for myself and maybe some of the others in the Phoenix area.

Howdy All,

Barring unforeseen circumstances, I'll be somewhere in the Quartszite area next late January-February-early March. I won't have a Ural but I'd like to meet and hang out with any Uralistas that make it down there. I am having my trailer setup with a huge solar setup so I'll be doing some boondocking this time around.

Some of my family have asked if Urals come with social lives, I am thinking they do, we have met the nicest people with our Ural.

I'm still thinking I will be there 2/03 and staying all week.
Is anyone else from the Phoenix group going to show, or will it just be Terry and I?

I'm interested. Have to check dates vs. work schedule.
Kid is at A.S.U. in Tempe (Phoenix) so have an excuse with the wife to go out and "visit".
Tried last year but was in contract meetings at my job.

There is a similar thread and group from the TW200 Forum as well. Most of them say all Winter.

Howdy All

We are now boondocking about 7 miles north of Quartzsite, we will be in the Quartzsite and Yuma areas until the end of March.

I didn’t bring a Ural this time but would like to meet up with folks who do come to the area

Unfortunately Shirley and I will not be there this year. First was the cost of a motel was double this year and now I just had a prostate procedure (spell that ouch) and reading the followup rules am not supposed to ride on a bicycle -no problem- or motorcycle -problem- for 3 months! Bad planning on my part I guess. Will miss visiting with the YARC folks and rest of you all.

Last year we made the ride out there and had a great time with members of SS and YARC. All through 2019 thought we would return and make 2020 happen. Change of events and now we have no plans to attend. HOWEVER, JJ and I are still young and crazy enough to say fark it all and just show up.
Regardless of us , hope those attending enjoy the desert air and night skies among the rambling landscape. Nice knowing that Mr Cobb is out roaming about. Good luck to Brian and Ron and hope to see you again.

Man I sure do want to be out there....but it didnt work out this year. I have had a couple of buyers for my house that have not worked out.

We are expecting 2-4 inches of snow here over the next 24 hours...I sure wish I still had my sidecar bike!

On a happier note, we had a nice day Saturday and I got out and rode my Ural Solo for a few hours, covered about 175 kms, ate lunch at a local diner a half hour up the road, and even met up randomly with three guys on older 70's model BMWs! What are the chances of four boxer motor bikes sitting side-by-side at a random rest area in the Texas Panhandle in mid-winter? Pretty low, one would think, since this is 'Harley Country'....

Then, as luck would have it, an hour later when I rolled up into my driveway, I did a quick check of the tire pressures and lost all the air in the rear tire, due to an apparently bad or leaking shrader valve....so there I was with a flat tire, in my own driveway.

Since I recently moved, I had NO idea where any of my tire changing tools and spare parts were...so the next business day (Monday) I rode my bicycle to the local NAPA store and bought a valve core removal tool and a few spare cores, came home, installed a new core, aired up my tire, (it held the air!)...and so I went for another short motorcycle ride...making the best of winter in the Texas Panhandle without a sidecar!
