Here's a place for the group to discuss their other brands of bikes, hobbies, and personal interests not related to Ural & Dnepr Sidecar rigs. But not politics...

Thinking of getting a HD radio for the shop. Anyone in the group have any input on my choice?

Harley makes everything, cheese slicers, dog collars, coffee mugs, just go to any dealership and the merch area is larger than bike sales area. Harley owner myself, however I refuse to advertise for them (only thing I have with HD on it is a pin my daughter got for me when she was in China)

Are you looking for a straight up radio, or the ability to Bluetooth from your phone?

I’ll bow out then. I know more about the Bluetooth realm.

?

I assUme you speak of an HDFM radio? If so, I like the Sony vehicle heads - running one on my home stereo in fact, using just the line level outs and a 12v computer monitor power supply.

I'd also expect you've done your homework and made sure you've got a decent selection of HD stations in your area. The signal is good for maybe 20 miles - after that, a bit of a crap shoot for reception.

THNX for the advice on reception sKi. I wound up buying a small Sangean table top/portable unit for channel testing. I live on one of the best hilltops in the area so my reception was pretty good. Only lost a couple of the advertised HD signals. Wife likes it in her "shop" (read fiber studio) so I'm guessing I'll need another one. :roll:

Big fan of HD myself, but as said, it's a lot to do with where you're at. Plenty of good and strong stations around here for just bopping about, so I've got it in the cars too ...

Hmmmmm ... now that I think of it, I've got an extra HD head that would fit the Ural nicely. ;-}
