Gamesmanship

I purchased a 'retirement' property in the country on 3.5 acres with a yard considerably larger than my 1/3 acre Virginia Beach yard, which we mowed with a pushmower. I knew I'd need a riding mower with a wide deck to make mowing time reasonable. The missus was pushing me to buy the cheapest riding mower available from a Big Box Store, but I defied her and plunked down five grand on a fancy Gravely zero-turn mower.

She was pi$$ed at me.

But there was a method to my madness.

Today, I'm sitting in a lawn chair, smoking a cigar, watching her mow a yard that doesn't really need to be mowed because she LOVES riding around on the thing.

Dude, you REALLY think she was pi$$ed?????

That was just a ploy to make you think you'd won a battle in the war.....

EDIT - nice start on the retirement beard.....

Wound up with my Kubota that way. I was at the dealer doing some test driving of attachments and -------without prompting------wife started moving stuff around in the front end loader and smiling like crazy. I bought it on the spot.

I'd have to get a hitch for the Gravely, but it would look something like this...

Nice! In keeping with my orange theme, I was tracking to buy a Bad Boy, but the Gravely won me over. Do you get a lot of downforce from that rear spoiler?

Julie LOVES to mow the grass... used our Honda self-propelled on our “postage stamp” back in Denver and even mowed our “acre of grass” up here in Helena with it a few times...

I bought her a vintage GT6000 rider last year... I enjoy watching her giggle now as she mows, tills, blades and am currently plumbing a SpotLyte sprayer onto her tractor to take care of the thistle on the remaining 19 acres...

The Hitchin' Post accessory is designed for attachment to robust OEM tow (hitch pin) plates. The 1 7/8" (or 2" as appropriate) tow ball, with 3/4" shank, must be purchased separately.

My new Husquarna (November) didn't win against the Ural yet. 750ccm V-twin sound good, but only 26hp...1 Hectar 2 1/2 Acres in 1h 45minutes....guahhh, why I waited so many years?
As far I understood daughter and wife have taken their turns in my absence.

I saw that spoiler (and a bunch more accessories) when I bought the machine. While they were prepping it for me to take home they called asking if they could use it in a photo shoot they were doing to make a new sales flier. I said it was ok. When I went down to pick it up, the spoiler was installed as you see it. They told me that I could keep it with their thanks. Honestly it sorta gets in the way of some maintenance procedures.......but it just looks too cool to not keep it on.....at least for now.

I did add LED headlights that make mowing after dark a breeze......and waaaay cooler than doing it in the heat of a summer day. Also added a couple of LED work lights aimed to the sides so I can see where the edges of the deck are as I navigate around obstacles.

Mine came with factory installed 2" receivers front and rear that are a big help........and that 25 hp Kawasaki engine makes enough torque that I was able to tow my 3500 lb tractor into the shop when it broke down out in the field.
