Van,
You are good man, I would trust your judgement and mechanical skills to work on my bike anytime. URAL should make you an authorized repair facility and Ural Consultant. You have done so much for the Ural community and brand, I am always looking forward to your next video and have watched all your videos numerous times, just a like a good movie or song that you keep watching/listening too over and over.

That does look like a good idea, welding the slingers to ensure they stay in place that is.

Looks to me like an owner/shop tack welded those on a new replacement crank because the original crank had lost one ("My crank lost the slinger, lets weld this one on the replacement so it won't happen again."). What year(s) did the cranks have problems with the slingers coming loose? That would be the bike this crank was originally in as a replacement I suspect.

To explain the mix up perhaps the shop just gave back a damaged crank they had lying around, and his crank is now sitting on the floor/shelf where this one was. Maybe they thought; "He wants a damaged crank back, oh here's one, mail it back" Regardless, I also would want 'my' old crank back just to look it over and would rightfully expect that I get 'my' crank and not some other laying around.

Resurrecting this only because the video that Van posted is no longer available. Was very curious to see what he found.
