OBD port cover?

Woe unto you that bought the first model year of a major remake, perhaps this section can help address any 2014 and later model Ural "imperfections". Here's a special section for folks with the latest rigs to discuss 2014 and later model-related topics such fuel injection, 3-wheel disc brakes, hydraulic steering dampers, spin-on oil filters and other anomalies that don't belong on true Russsian motorcycle ;-P We've gone from using big hammers and greasy wrenches to needing computers and Ouija boards in order to fix our rigs.

OBD port cover?

Post by makarov » Mon Dec 09, 2019 6:33 pm

I have a 2016 GearUp that I got from the original owner. Is there a cover for the OBD port? Here is a pic of what is on the bike. Is there a weather proof cover or something missing?

That is the cover. Pull it off and you will see the pins that the dealer tool connects to....

Pic posted in the OBDII thread - yours looks to be missing the white plastic release clip - makes it easier to pull off :)

Yes it's actually a Molex plug housing so the holes are for the wires to come out. I put duct tape over mine then a zip tie round to stop it unpeeling.

Thanks so much, Everyone!

So that's the cover that's on my bike but it's missing the release plunger. Most of the pictures I've seen on the various OBD threads here show the port with the cover off I think or the different versions of the ports that vary by model year. It makes sense now. Much appreciated
