1st Winter ride

Two weeks ago I went on my first winter ride. Need a scarf to hold the wind out of the back of my coat, and need to wear my waterproof pants. My hands were cold but I ordered heated gloves.

Whooot! Never knew real riding season started in December!! So gorgeous!

***********
I went on another ride with the heated gloves a few days ago. Froze my hands off. Turns out it helps if you read the directions on how to turn the gloves on. Derp! But solved the neck and leg cold, so pretty sure I have the right gear now. Can you believe I got that coat for $3.00 at a garage sale?? So warm!

I never had any intention of riding through the winter until that first snow after I got my Ural. Now I'm addicted!

I'm the opposite. Started riding late in life, fell in love with it after making a Royal Enfield my primary mode of transportation. September rolled around and I started looking into how to make riding work on ice and snow in subzero temps...the rest is history.

so if you slow down enough that the muffler can melt the snow fast enough, you are good for deep snow plowing!
Now I start to see a need for high mufflers. Good that in Costa Rica we do find snow only inside a fridge or at the ice parlour. Here the original oven pipes have only one use.
"deepth stop" in mud and sand.
We will see when I get my hand on snow the next time.

After a full winter season your rig pushing abilities will have made a great improvement. Go for it.

Awesome! I ride almost everyday in the winter and it just takes a few cold mornings to know what you need for gear. I currently wear layers under a roadcrafter.
I would recommend taking off the sidecar windshield. It directs alot of wind at you. Also I made up some simple but effective foor guards for winds and slush protection. Let me know if you want to see em.
On another note, if you live where the evil road treatments are used, prep the bike thoroughly and often. Some like ACF50 but w@$# it off and reapply monthly. It will gunk everything up if you don't.
Good luck and have fun!

It truly is fun.

Where about? Looks like you are at about the limit of snow depth !

I think most I have done is 7 inches.
