Bar Harbor Maine

Post by 2017 CT » Fri Jul 05, 2019 7:47 pm

Our latest adventure started last Sunday when we headed out for Bar Harbor Maine on the Ural. We were about 160 sunny miles into the ride when the skies darkened ..... and the rains came! So, we finished the last 100 miles in a torrential downpour.... I am so proud of Nance. Not one complaint or negative comment .... she just hunkered down and we rode the rest of the way to the hotel.

Monday was beautiful so we headed out to Acadia State park. We decided to take the park loop road, 30 ish miles of scenery and interesting stops. We saw Thunder cove, Jordans Pond, sand beach and rode up Cadillac Mountain to name a few...... the scenery we saw was beyond what I can describe here ... just amazing.

Tuesday morning we awoke at 3AM, jumped on the rig and headed up to the peak of Cadillac mountain to see the sunrise, I have to tell you riding up the mountain road at 3:30AM all alone made me wonder seriously about my sanity... but it was all worth it! If you have not done this please start planning the trip now. It is again, beyond description. Afterwards we took a hike up to bubble rock, then we headed out to find the south harbor.... As many of you are well aware I have no sense of direction, we got lost. The great thing about getting lost is that you see some great sites that you never would have known were there.

On Wednesday we headed out to Newfield Maine to see the Coopers for the 4th. Maureen Murphy Cooper and Nancy Murphy Cotreau were glad to spend some time together just catching up and hanging by the lake. Paul and Maureen were great hosts, we had a terrific 4th, complete with jumping off the bridge into the lake, freat food, campfires including sparklers and lots of laughs, honestly.

After 2 days in Newfield it was time to head home, of course Nance had to hit the outlets in Kittery... We saw some great things, including a sunrise! spent time with great friends and had a great week together .... 708 miles of smiles.
