It was a great weekend. Not as many bikes as expected but still a solid turnout!

Another great get together :D
It was good to spend time with the regulars, and nice to see some new faces too.
I had a blast trying out my new snorkel, I'll do a write up on it next chance I get, meanwhile looking forward to watching any videos posted.

What a great weekend!

Turtle Run took care of us as always, and the weather was great.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

The place & location looks much nicer than the Fall JDH. Why the move in location? Just to shake things up?

This was actually the fifth year we've run the Spring weekend out of this campground. They are so welcoming(they surprised with that banner this year) and user friendly for us that we keep on returning. They have a reasonable flat per person/night fee if you're tenting in the main area, they have a buffet breakfast onsite and even a modest dinner menu so after a day's riding you can refresh with an adult beverage and relax.

Every year we consider returning for the Fall ride out of convenience, but the regulars like to mix it up a little and access different riding areas. We've been bouncing back and forth between two state park campgrounds including the one you experienced but we're looking into another private campground for that as well.

Another fun weekend and what great weather!

And yet another weekend that I took my camera for a ride in my pocket :( I arrived Friday morning at about 9:30 and we waited just a bit longer for our last known morning arrival before heading out to breakfast and then onto the trails. Multi days of rain leading up to our weekend left us to deal with slightly worse than usual conditions in some of the familiar slippery spots. But, our definition of getting stuck is when manpower alone won't get you out and you need to resort to tow straps or winches. So with enough hands onboard no one got "stuck".

As we were readying to head out to the local seafood restaurant for dinner Friday I head an unpleasant squeal from my bike and some of us jumped in a car for the dinner run. A nice campfire and tall stories followed.

Saturday morning we spent a little time trying to determine the source of my squeal and attempted a temporary repair before we indulged in the buffet breakfast where much pork product was consumed.

I was last to pull out of camp and immediately knew time on our temporary patch was already expired(turned to be a bad bearing in the final drive). I returned to camp with Mike and Robert quickly following on their dual sports. My first response was to ask them to find an empty sidecar and I'd monkey for the day but Mike had other ideas... he immediately offered me use of his TW200 which they had also brought along. If I'd had more time to consider it, I probably would have come to my senses as I've never ridden a dirt bike and the sand/mud on the day's venue probably wasn't the best place for the first lesson plus I wasn't really in the right riding gear... but off I went... And yes, it didn't take long. The first muddy rut and I was down for the first of probably six times. I considered heading back to camp at the first asphalt crossing but I'm glad I didn't as my confidence grew and I only have a few extra bruises to show for it. Thank you, Mike for being so generous and letting me experience The Hunt from a new angle.

So I posted the first group ride video over here:

https://sovietsteeds.com/forums/viewtop ... 6&start=60

...while the JDH was going on.

We did a second more technical (or is it brutal) ride a couple hours later on Friday. Amazing piloting and resilience of man and these machines:

You can't tell in the video but there were 12-14' flames coming off the Uncle Dave's old Christmas Tree!

Great to meet the new guys, with Paul doing a great job on a pristine bike almost too-shiny for the trails and Tommy riding a 35yo Dnepr with street tires. Both guys did amazing jobs and took to the riding with great attitudes. Hope to see more of both of you!
