How is the removable oil change plate attached? is it pre-threaded holes that simply screw in with no locking bolt on the upside?

Skid Plates are like oil threads here. Some work, some crumble (or crumple).

There are threaded clinch nuts on the topside of the skid plate.

If we were to just thread the skid plate, the threads would fail after a couple oil changes, so we are using steel clinch nuts that are permanently pressed into the skid plate on top, to allow many cycles of screw removal/installation.

Are the brackets aluminum or steel?

Hello Emily,
Does the skid plate allow for removal and installation of the old style element oil filter? I know mine is a tight fit past the front exhaust pipe and I see the skid plate had the front pipe guard. Just curious if I would have to drop the plate to change the filter.
Thanks!

Hi, here is a side view showing how far up the skid plate extends. It is supposed to be enough to keep rocks from dinging the most vulnerable area, the lower front corner of the pan and block, without blocking filter access.

That said, if you can measure from the bottom of your filter to the bottom of the side frame tubes, and maybe send me a pic, we can check.

Best,

Emily

It's cool to see folks making aftermarket products for Ural! Do you have any videos of the skid plate mounted on a bike? Any resonance issues (humming) when revving the engine?

Hi! No videos, sorry, but we will try to get one soon.

No harmonics or resonance issues, it fits pretty tightly and does not flex / vibrate under throttle, no.

I have one on my '16 cT - no issues regarding removing bottom plate for changing engine oil.

My only (if you want to call it) issue is the need to use a funnel to drain the transmission oil - the upside is that the transmission is protected from an inadvertent piece of debris.

For the record, I am not an off roader - but where I do travel, there are pieces of the occasional hardware or rocks from a nearby quarry that litter the roads.

Fit and finish are OUTSTANDING!!!!
