Rich's Cycle Upholstery stuff

Post by Rich Maund » Fri Jan 06, 2017 5:23 pm

Folks
I'd been looking for other work the past couple years as the demand for upholstery things dropped waaay down with the recession. I was all set late last year for a steam plant job. Government contract work. Recruiter told me it got pulled in Dec., so I just recommitted to my business. Yesterday I get a call that they still want me for that work, but at the main Norfolk Base instead of Little Creek. They want to start me soon as I have already passed the background checks. So I may be closing up the upholstery shop. Just have to see. Right now I feel a bit like Charlie Brown trying to kick Lucie's football. Twice last year I was told to get ready to start the job and then..... nothing. This morning I drove out to the supply warehouse in Norfolk where I have got my marine vinyls for 21 years and stocked up on black leather grain marine vinyl. My plan is to spend this snow storm time out in the shop building stuff to sell next week. As I complete stuff, you can look for the ads here. Almost 21 years doing bike upholstery now. Dyamn...... I only did 20 years in the Navy!

Hey Rich, good luck on the new position. If you have anything for a 2015 gear up urban camo seat cover for the tractor seats I would be interested in 2 if them. Thanks and Semper Fidelis

I have a piece of heavy urban snow camo Cordura here that is enough to make two tractor seat covers. But being black white and gray camo, the white would get dirty as a seat cover.

Bought a curtan from Rick. Great product.

Not even my Lab Rufus could destroy it!

As the owner of perhaps the largest Ural seat ever made (see link in my sig), I can say the quality and attention to detail is top notch. Definitely take a moment to assess your tonneau, door, windshield skirt needs.

And for you nylon soft parts owners, vinyl cleans up much nicer after playing off-road or in road salt.
Get a set for off-road or winter riding.

TESTIMONIAL: I traded for this seat set - with a red windshield bib. Riches card was stapled to the bottom of the seat. The wood obviously had some age on it. I varnished the wood to preserve it. The Red Vinyl is in very good condition, even though it is unknown years old. it is very comfortable, the tuck & roll stitching is all still perfect. I was attracted to it because of its similarity to civilian STEIB upholstery that I admired.
Rich is THE MASTER upholsterer. I am so glad to have to have this.

I have the same seat. It came with my bike from the previous owner. Best seat I ever rode.

I'm still making seats folks. Not as fast as I used to be, but hanging in there best I can. I am booked up for most of April right now. Spring is the one time of year I have no need to advertise!

The government contract job didn't pan out. They have called the recruited three times in 18 months wanting me, then they go silent. I think the last time was due to the federal hiring freeze. So I will be doing upholstery til I retire far as I know.
