I'm not alone...

Post by thart2009 » Wed Apr 08, 2020 6:31 pm

I have had my Ural for 30 days and 700 miles now. I have only ever seen one other in the wild (in person, not at a dealer or a show). Until today. Ran into this gentleman in Ashland County Ohio who happens to live 2.5 miles from my house. A new Ural owner too, he has had his since October and has his dog well trained as a co-pilot! We were both shocked to see each other as we approached from opposite directions. We stopped in the middle of Co. Rd. 995 until forced to move for oncoming traffic. Highlight of my day.

Greetings from down around Dayton. You'd think being relatively close to Heindl's I'd see Urals running around all the time, but they are few and far between, maybe a sighting every year or 2 in the wild. I need my yearly fix at Heindl's open house every July to realize I am not alone :D
Past afflictions include limey motocars and bikes, R60/2, R65ls, & a Citroen.

That is great.

I hope to see the guy I met at the Hardware store last year, there are a few other sightings by my wife and I.

I only have 12,000k on my 2013, but am still seeking first contact with the illusive Uralista. One possible sighting turned out to be a stripped down, hopped up tractor of some kind. Met one dude who has has a 2014 but never seen him out. There are a few rumored to be in my AO so I try to carry salty snacks and malt beverages just in case the opportunity arises to make contact. THART met one 2.5 mi away within 30 days of starting to ride one? I admit to some jealousy, made me cry a little bit. I'm OK now.
there is no problem so complex, nor situation so dire, that its solution can not be found in the skillful application of high explosives.

Congrats on your new rig and for bumping into another local owner. I met another Ural owner at a benefit ride last year. Was nice talking to someone else with a Ural. :)

Sweet.

I have yet to run into another Ural “in the wild”. Only planned meet ups.
