Where would one go about buying such a thing as a lap robe? I'm intrigued.
Tucano Urbano makes one. I read on here that the R117 fits Ural.
I just ordered one last week from motostorm.it. Hasn’t arrived yet.

If you can raise hdflame on the board, he made a nice one that I use. If interested, you could also try his email: http://www.riddlescustomupholstery.com

Langlitz laprug page is 404 (missing) unfortunately.
I contacted them about one several years ago, and they said its only available as a special order item. They also pretty much talked me out of getting one for my use and location, which I thought was odd considering Seattle has similar weather to Portland.

When I was young & enthusiastic, I did ride regularly in foul weather. I never went the lap robe route, as I owned both a German army KRADMANTLE Coat, & an AVIAKIT British heavy multi layer version of the KRADMANTLE. Both Long Coats, designed to totally enclose the riders torso & legs. With rubber boots, & full coverage helmet, I stayed comfortable in rain & sleet using them. but found them to be to HOT when kick starting a very cold bike. The Hazards of bad weather motorcycling, then finally affording an equally fun car - led me to save my bikes for clear weather use. Consequently they held up much better, lasting longer. I survived also.

I thought a car was coming straight at me. There was no way I could have bailed in a hurry.
I have some strange resistance to being tethered to the bike, same reason I don't have electronically heated gear. After 6 winters and plenty of trial and error I have gear good for hour trips at below zero Fahrenheit temperatures now. Winter riding is definitely my favorite time to ride.
past afflictions include limey motocars and bikes, R60/2 & a R65ls, and a Citroen.

At my age and mobility level, I wouldn't be much better off with a lot of clothes on. At one time I had a Swedish rider's suit but it also hampered my movements. The lap robe is only held to me by a velcro strap. That in itself doesn't slow me down. But having fabric wrapped around my legs does slow me down. Winter riding is fun but often visibility and movement are less than optimal.

My lap robe has no velcro or straps. I just tuck its upper edges underneath my jacket’s lower hem. Basically that means the robe goes from one hip to the other.

My old robe had no straps or velcro either. This one gives much better coverage.

I can’t remember as I’ve had it for 15+ years. I know, not very helpful.
