Clutch shudder.

Post by Speedbump » Sun Sep 09, 2018 1:07 pm

Had a new "feel" today. The clutch "shuddered" coming off a stop. Didn't feel it through the other gears. Almost feels like a warped flywheel/pressure plate or really hot clutch disk. The bike was cold as I just started my errands. Is it time for a new disk? I don't baby it, but I don't beat the hell out of it either.

My take on this would be to do nothing yet, ride it more, see if it goes away , stays the same, gets worse. It gives you time to think about your options and might just highlight what the problem is ( or isn't, if it goes away)

I have had occasional clutch shudder since the bike was nearly new. It is now 6 years old and has 39,000 km on it and I am still using the original clutch. I don't think it's anything to worry about, but I'm no expert.

Mine does it when I first take off after it has been setting a day. Does not do it after it warms up.
