I bought my Ural from the nearest dealer, 14 hour drive one way. Since then, dealers and service only facilities have come and gone. Still performing my own service. It is one of the reasons I purchased a Ural.

agree, think there are only a few dealers that i would truly trust to do major work on my Ural, most its just a side line and they don't have much experience i think. think i would rather go to MyUral.com and go on my own, unless still under warranty.

Bought a Ural at a dealership 6000+km away from me. meanwhile we have a local dealership...I guess my spare part stock is bigger then his. Do it again?
Yupp, there is no doubt about it...that fun is un payable,as long you have 2 right hands and some change left over in your wallet.

Howdy, new member here, not an owner yet but hope to be soon. Current bike is a Royal Enfield Classic 500 so I'm used to owning a less dependable brand; I'm 130 miles from the nearest Royal Enfield dealer so going to a Ural dealer 150 miles away won't be a big deal for me.

Actually pondering buying from a dealer in the LA area and riding home along Route 66 (I'm 140 miles from the Chicago end) after practicing with the sidecar in SoCal up until the first service to work out any major flaws up front.

Codemonkey, La is a long ways away. There's a good looking 013 in Green Bay...much closer.

You're right of course. I've been talking to Heindl's about a couple of used Patrols he has in stock....but a man can dream. I've done a couple of 800 mile trips on my Royal Enfield Classic 500 (and done 2000km across India in an autorickshaw) so I get excited at the thought of irrationally optimistic long trips in potentially iffy transportation.

what is a dealership? I think I have seen some motorcycle dealerships, they are the ones with the overpriced T-shirts, leather jackets, cheese cutters. jewelry, dog collars, etc..but limited parts right? Yes I own a HD also, but hell no I don't go there
