I don't know about recommended speeds. I just listen to the engine and it tells me when to shift. This engine has a lot of low speed power so it's doesn't seem necessary to me to wind it too tight.

If you start looking at a speedometer or tach as to when to shift your asking for trouble and your eyes belong on the road and nowhere else. The engine sound is what you go by. Most gas engines like to be kept around the 2,500 rpm range when cruising. :) Oh wait a minute the exception is the crotch rockets.

Basically just wind it out! When it isn't giving you more acceleration then shift! If you look at the 3rd gear line it indicates about 55 mph to shift to 4th. That is pretty wound out on my engine. Winding it up is a lot better than short shifting these engines. Take it easier in 1st and 2nd though. THAT is my OPINION!

I do like CDscoot, but I do short shift from 1st to 2nd, then let 2nd wind out a bit, then run 3 & 4 out the limit, otherwise you will never get anywhere. :feelsgood:

Well on my speedo it is 50-55 mph where I will shift. If I'm goin up a hill I hold it slightly longer before going into 4th. ( Since 4th is gutless). 55kph would put you at 33 mph. Do you shift into 4th at 33 mph? Way too slow IMHO!
