Spare parts organization

Post by Kliff » Mon Jul 06, 2020 12:55 am

In my previous Gear Up, I made an insert for the truck area, to hold spare parts, tools, oil, and the battery.
True it cut down on the useable space in the trunk, but it was nice to have everything organized too.
Thinking about making something similar, or maybe taking the easy route, and just buying some ammo boxes, stashing everything, and throwing them in the trunk. At least then they'd be water proofed...

Also...anyone know the dimensions, nomenclature, or source for the ammo cans I see mounted on the exterior of the sidecar bodies???

exterior dimensions of the ammo can are roughly 5x11x14, should be available from any dealer. I can keep spare parts, a towel and a tow strap in it.

Lots of different Ammo box sizes... I went with a “Fat 50” on the outside (roomier inside) and a .30 on the inside (size constraints)...

I’ve seen mortar boxes tucked away under the back of the car... very neat and rather large...

3 times 80mm mortar box waiting now 6 years for it's rag... there must be something I do wrong? ... Ahh, I need a travel permit!
Open those borders and the rag will be done in no time.

Holds the shaped 2x4 I use for a jack, air compressor, spare tube, misc small parts, tool roll and paper towels.

Had to bang the crap out of the rear left corner to clear the trailer hitch after it was installed, but without the hitch it bolts on easy. Use spacers to hang it slightly under the sidecar otherwise the lid won't come on or off.

Ural Shop is the source for the pretty ammo cans sold by the US dealers.

Old Timers Garage would have the reproduction WWII style boxes
