Pea Shooter muffler project

Post by glacoste » Mon Jun 29, 2020 1:52 pm

Picked up these Triump mufflers. Did some measurements. Looks like I might be able to fit them up. Have to see if I can straighten out the slip on end first. Pea Shooters on the cheap.

Was able to straighten out the ends. Just waiting on the hangers and trim up the straight stock. Have to sort out some running issues before installing them.

If you have a buffing wheel, you can polish those welds to emulate chrome. Of course you'll have to maintain them to keep them from rusting. But it will make them look like they were made that way.

I know this is Monday morning QB'ing, but if I have to weld on chrome bits, I have a friend do it and use stainless filler rod. That polished up nicely and does not rust. There will be some carbon steel exposed, but not as much as when the filler is carbon steel.

Just curious, are those late model (Hinkley) Triumph mufflers? They are not vintage (Burgess) replicas. Wrong shape. Look more like vintage BSA mufflers. But that curved end is not BSA, nor is that welded on bracket. That's what makes me think they are modern Triumph.

Okay. Thanks. Those are not vintage Triumph part numbers so must be what I thought, Hinkley mufflers.
