I don't like the Electrojet system and dunno if Ural will create a retrofit for their newer stuff.

Has anyone tried the M2Boxer retrofit? My 2018 is gonna be out of warranty in a couple months, figured it might be an option along with some 825 surgery.

Hey John,

They offer 3 kits. One for Dneprs/ 650's, one for carbed 750's and one for the EFI Urals.

My interest is in swapping the EFI on my 2018 to something that has a throttle position sensor. I could do the heavy mods and replace the cam/ timing cover to use an old style hall sensor, but they had a comment 2 years ago that they were working on the kit for the EFI's. Website hints at system for EFI's, though the photos are for a carbed bike kit.

I'm curious if anyone has used it on the EFI Urals to fix known Electojet issues.

This kit also will work on Ural that have EFI from factory, I saw picture and video with Ural Retro from 2016, if someone will show me how to upload video I will put here.

Talk to Jon at Heindl Engineering. Ural has released their Electro Jet to Keihin upgrade kit recently. I think he has some info about them and may have one in stock.

Hi SteppwolfMD,

Is it the same Retro they reference on VK?

https://vk.com/m2boxer_efi

Their alternator relocation mod is interesting https://vk.com/album-91063255_267622163

I've emailed my dealer about the retrofit from Ural. One concern, and it could be my translation, is the M2Boxer was still having issues with throttle response using the stock cam. Might not be a huge problem, my Victory can also hiccup. I do like the fact that the map is user modifiable, and it appears to use the stock fuel pump and 02 sensors, just requiring surgery to remove the ElectroJet elements from the wiring.

Hello Eric N,

That Ural Retro is not single, there few Ural’s that was changed old factory EFI kit with M2Boxers KIT, in this case you can buy not full KIT because it’s works with already installed Oxygen Sensors, temperature sensor, fuel pump and take signal from Flywheel.

And you are right need some wiring work... but you’ll have more positive feedback.

About kit to move alternator in the front(guys from Moskow) they made this with stock Denso or another bigger alternator, and second thing was to reduce noise from front engine, engine will be silent and you will not hear pions noise like before.

The alternator relocation looks very well done but if you remember the first BMW airheads with plain bearings ( /5 models from 1969) they had no air vent in the alternator cover and heat problems with the alternator.
I can imagine that this mod will protect from salt spray in winter. I reckon, the alternator will fry in summer.
Yes. It´s one gear less on the timing gear side and might run less noisy. But I´m very pleased with my denso as is.

Hi Claus,

I agree on the alternator cooking, it also relocates the oil filter a tad low for my tastes. However I am delighted to see innovative mods for the bikes. While I don't feel the need to move my alternator, they created a very clean looking solution for doing it.

Robert - Ural Lorraine has the conversion kit in stock. I've emailed M2Boxer for the cost of their kit on a 2018, I'm thinking it will be a fraction of the price and user programmable.

I have to agree that the execution on the alt relo is impressive. But the Denso was designed to live under a hood exposed to salt, water, crud, etc.. I tend to think this was a design excercise.

Official IMWA Ural kit, $2299.00

Expensive, but less than they guesstimated a year ago when they were developing it.

Hey Barry,

Thanks for the link!

Artsemi is quoting $900 + shipping for his kit. I've asked if he can send me installation information, and also clarification of what's included. My impression is they use a different fuel pump and coils with his kit. One serious advantage of his is the ability to adjust the map, If I 825cc, the Ural kit will either need to be hacked or have some sort of fuel controller. Downside with Artsemi's kit is it is major surgery not plug and play, to remove the ElectroJet system, though from the size of the wiring harness on the AF1 site, both conversions may be variations of the same mess.

If I remember correctly, the only modification needed for the Ural kit is drilling a hole in the air box for the MAF sensor. The rest is swapping components, and wire harness.

Edit; I remembered incorrectly, its a plug and play kit that requires no modifications.

The ElectroJet fuel injection on the 2014-18 Urals has been the subject of recurring criticisms on the forum. Now, the naysayers have the opportunity to step up and put their money where their mouths are. OEM Keihin, or M2Boxer. Twenty three C-notes, or nine.
