Low cost solutions to the low mufflers?

Low cost solutions to the low mufflers?

My 2012 Gear Up has the stock giant mufflers and they are absolutely destroyed on the bottom from dragging them on literally everything on the trails. Does anyone have any low cost solutions to moving or eliminating them? I've already tried rotating them so they point slightly upwards, but that only gained me about a half inch of ground clearance and spending $1500 on a 2 into 1 kit is a bit ridiculous for me.

Cheapest and very functional w/o excessive noise is find a set of take-off stock OEM Harley Sportster cans. A LOT smaller than the huge Ural culverts, sound nice, look good. You'll need to buy or have a shop spin up some reducers to go from the Ural 1.5" pipe OD to the Sportster 1.75" ID on the cans.
On a side note: no, the days of getting free or cheap take-offs from the dealers scrap barrel are long gone. you can find owner take offs cheap on CL etc. I've bought a couple pairs in excellent pristine condition and never paid more than $50/pair.

I have a few local swap meets and have had good luck getting take-offs for $10-25 a set. Even scored a nice set of SE Touring mufflers for $20 that fit my Yamaha touring bike!

I have a set of Take offs from an early Triumph America, from another member here, they have intermediate stubs - that were used on a Ural. The CHROME top sides of these should clean & shine up nice (OR PAINTED) + they have "leg burn shields" & mounts that were used on a Ural. They are a size that will look correct. But have no emission stuff - but are baffled - I can't see any light through them. I'm asking $75. for the pair Shipped.
They are heavy - after shipping, I get to keep $25. each.
I have used "OTHER" mufflers with fuel injected bikes, & they adapted well - BUT may not pass an emission test - Many places do not require bike inspections.

My original "punched" 02 Ural mufflers are still doing fine.

These TRIUMPH AMERICA MUFFLERS are still available - PM me if interested.

Take off's are a good option because they will be good quality mufflers that wont quickly rust out quickly like tractor mufflers.
For my M70 I opted for stainless CJ750 mufflers which cost more at $150 shipped, but look "correct", and nicer to my eye. They're also much lighter than OE, or take off's.

I'm interested in the raceway 2-1 header but I have no idea if they've improved quality since the 2016 post I saw where someone said they basically rusted out within 6 months...

I made my 2 into 1 headers just before Raceway introduced theirs, mine are mild steel like theirs. Yes, they will rust prodigiously in a cosmetic manner. No, they will not "rust out" in 6 months.
I believe if one were to have them professionally ceramic coated it wouldn't be an issue at all.
