right hand controls on Patrol 2014

Post by Marc » Mon Jul 15, 2019 4:36 pm

Good day.
On my Canadian Patrol 2014, on the right hand handlebar controls, there is a glued cover over a slot that would be intended to turn lights ON, with 3 positions to be selected. I would like to have this option for controlling additional lights instead of adding extra handle bar controls. Can this be modified or replaced with a model from a different country? Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

Pretty sure others here have done it if you can find the parts. I "think?" the switch is already in the unit and all that's needed is the thumb slider part of the switch. For my 011 I tried having my local dealer source one from Europe but the thumb slider alone wasn't avail only a complete entire Euro switchgear assembly for silly money. I passed. Think it was sourced from the Euro Ural importer in Germany.

Thanks for info about the original switch. Being in Canada, too much money for what I need! (currency+shipping) Found a Handlebar double lighted swith for about 25$ on Amazon. Free shipping. Fits nicely . Still thinking of opening original switch this winter. Will update when it happens.

The original switch actually still functions but IMZ breaks off the knob and seals the face with the flat plate. If you pry the plate off(just rubber cement) you can move the slider with a small screw driver. Finding a way to extend the broken peg that the original switch used is a tough one. back when I did mine there was a vendor on Ebay that had both sides complete for $99 which I went ahead and bought. An external mounted switch is also an option and alot cheaper.

Yes thanks. I have installed external double lighted switch+relay to ignition switch. On one or two occasions the sidecar lights had been forgotten ON. It had a toggle switch inside of sidecar.

illuminated switches - Copy.jpg
update on the illuminated handlebar light switches.
Had to machine down the aluminum collar to fit between the brake oil reservoir and handlebar.
Oups! forgot to glue the original slot cover back on...

my son made me 2 new switch sliders on his 3 D printer. both held only few weeks, as they tend to brake right at the point where Ural grinds them off. I will ask him for one last shot with PET material. if you like chime in. all it takes is patience, a scalpel and the old springs, ball and contact plates.

I understand that you went a different direction, but if you were curious about how to regain functionality on the European headlight selector switch, this thread covers it: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=20169
