Not trying to hijack this thread, but since it has migrated to other seats types:
I installed an older bench seat I picked up from a member here. Even though it is older, I imagine the only difference between the newer "Enduro" Bench seat and this one is material and styling. It probably uses the same pan and has the same height. My current saddle is the Russell Daylong. It is comfy, but has two drawbacks:
- the side bolsters prevent shifting weight sided to side.
- it sits low so you ride with your knees forward and on the balls of your feet.
While I was doing the battery swap last night, I changed out the seat as well. Here are my observations from my short ride to work this morning. When I hopped on, I just just grabbed the bars and sat where it felt comfortable and natural with out thinking about it. I was surprised to find my feet were sitting flat, I was sitting higher on the bike by 2-3", and I was sitting back with my hips roughly over the rear shocks. (for reference, I am 5'9") Once I got moving, I was surprised to find I felt totally exposed. Not only was I sitting higher, I never realized the security the bolstering on my other saddle gave me! I kept feeling I was going to fall off. It is definietly firmer than the Russell, but I sit comfortably at a better angle. I am taking it to the cabin this weekend. That will give me a chance to ride city, highway, dirt road, and trails to really evaluate. I'll report back.

Tomcatfixer, I think you might like freedom the bench gives your long legs. Let me know if you are interested in trying this bench out when I am done.

It might be worth the price of shipping to and from Wyoming to find a touring seat solution.

That said, for around town riding and my daily commute, I have no problem with the tractor saddle.

THAT said, I can't see myself spending more than an hour on the tractor saddle.

Manscout & Tomcatfixer.....let be known that the seat Manscout has and the seat on the cT mount differently. Tomcatfixer would also need the two hook brackets that bolt to the rear of the grab handle in order to install that seat.

Ahhh yes. Thank you for the reminder. I would not be able to send those, but TCF is a resourceful guy. ;) I'll let you know when I change back.

Here is my long winded review of the seat.

Love my Harley police seat. Looks a bit big. But is very kind to my butt.

I haven't tried it and wouldn't.
At 6'6" and 260 and dropping, I need the comfort and room to move around that the longer bench provides. It is indispensable to me for stretching on long pavement ride and off-road for shifting weight or coming down after catching air and being sure I land on the seat.

I have ridden about 6,000 K on the 2/3 seat and like it. It is firm but comfortable. For the record: I'm 5' 3" and 125 pounds. That does make a difference.

After installing the 2/3 Bench Seat a few months ago I have decided it is the best seat for me (also really like the look on a GU). At first it was to firm but now has softened in little, love the fact I can shift side to side for corners and even a little front to rear. FYI I am almost 5'8" 265lbs.
I missed having the rack, I had remounted it on the sidecar fender. Then thanks to others who showed how to mount one behind the new seat using the two original holes and drilling two new holes. Bought a used rack on eBay, 2 10mm philips screws, steel spacers, steel and rubber washers, and a little rattle can black paint and it is back on the bike fender. Photos follow.

Has anyone tried one of these 2/3rds seats? I don't like the look of the full bench, but wouldn't mind a little more room than what my tractor seat provides.
I have one sitting here ready to go on the bike. My issue is access to the two rear bolts - near impossible. Unless my wife can get her little hand in there to put the nuts on fitting/removal of the seat is going to start with removal of the back wheel.

A question for anyone who's bike came stock with the seat: does it just have two nuts or has Ural done something to hold the nuts in place?

roscua,

My patrol came with the stepped seat, which I remove to take out the battery. The rear portion of the seat is held in place by bolts that go through the fender into the seat pan. I forgot the size of the allen wrench I used.

roscoau,

I reread your question. Guess I had a brain fart. Sorry for the confusion on my part.
