Ural 2/3 bench seat: Has anyone tried it?

Has anyone tried one of these 2/3rds seats? I don't like the look of the full bench, but wouldn't mind a little more room than what my tractor seat provides.

I think it's a great looking seat, I hope to see one in real life. Maybe it's the way to go.

I tried to buy one at Triquest, Was told they're not in the Washington warehouse yet. It's the first seat I thought looked right on a Ural besides the tractor model... I'm told the only downside is that you can't use the rear fender rack, as the two forward mounting holes are used by the seat... BTW, I also really like the new sidecar seat with under-seat storage and new shape. Really attractive! The link is at the bottom of the page link you posted.

I don't like the look of the full bench seat, but that 2/3 looks good and probably more comfortable than the tractor seat.
If a person were inclined to, they could cut down the full bench seat, weld or screw a mounting bracket on the back and wrap the excess seat cover under and glue it down, beats the hell out of 271 euros plus shipping.

When I installed the Harley seat on my bike it covered the two front rack holes too. I turned the rack around and drilled two new holes and installed small black plastic plugs in the vacant holes.
I may not be good, but I'm slow.

Here's the link to the new sidecar seat: https://www.ural-shop.com/en/seats/386- ... r-set.html

I would think that an enterprising person could build a simlar underseat tray from wood to replace the wooden foot under the standard seat. You could fiberglass it to make it sturdier and water proof. Someone with sheetmetal skills could probably made a really nice one. Both would just need a piano hinge at the rear and maybe some of the foam removed at the very back to give clearance two swing it up.

Looks pretty comfy, Reminds me of the rare BMW Police seats. Having replaced my front tractor seat with another seat for comfort, I noticed the seat shown actually terminates about where the tractor does in its rearmost mounting holes. It is no doubt a softer seat though. I'd like a totally flat bench seat - IF my knees get any stiffer - so I could scoot back A bit.

Tried one at the recent Cleveland Motorcycle show. It's OK but made me feel like it was sliding me forward (might have been hip tilt) all the time.

As for the sidecar under seat storage. Its a good idea - UNTILL - I repeat - UNTILL - the semi-ball headed metal post that press fits to hold the seat onto the base wears out the mating hole in the plastic base. Then what?

Is the plastic sidecar seat base/tray "permanently" (non-easily removable) attached to the sidecar ? One of the things I like about the current seat bottom is that I can quickly remove it and have a nice, flat, roomy sidecar floor upon which I can transport mass quantities.

Actually, not "rare" at all, just a tad spendy; P/N: 52 53 1 230 676, $421.89USD (MAXBMW.com). I had one on my /5 for a short while. I ride solo up against the tank so the seating position was right for me, I just didn't like the look on the bike.

There are a couple of nuts holding it down. Nuts on the outside under the car and threaded insert in the plastic pan. Shouldn't be too hard to remove.

Doesn't sound like it, however, it's not as quick as pulling the seat bottom loop!

Lew,

I had a '70 R75/5, heavily "massaged", short frame and I loved it. Seeing yours tho'...You've done a really nice job!

I, too, had a "solo" seat, but made from the original dual pan. I'll have to dig out the prints...long before digital.

Love that tank!

Mia culpa Jesse, not my /5 posted above. I snagged the image (without credits) off the net.. ..

My LWB/5 is a bit more stock, in fact, it's totally stock, except for the barends. A daily rider, it's sitting out in the parking lot right now.

Sorry Eric N, I started another tread on this before finding your older post, deleting mine and posting the information/question here again. santareg
I emailed IMZ-Ural and verified the new cT Solo 2/3 seat will bolt on a 2014 GU seems like a good option with the built in gel pad and will allow you to slide back a little. However, really would like to know if anyone has tried this seat out before using my social security :bs: up? My over weight 74 year old derrière just isn't molding to the stock tractor style seat for rides over 100 miles. Prefer to not install the full Enduro Bench or 2 up Patrol Bench seat. I am only 5'8" and never carry a rider except in the hack. Sean has a great option/mod for the tractor seat but I might need 3 or 4 springs. I know, loose 100 of the 280 lbs.
