I needed a laugh this morning. Awesome news. Never hacked the Harley and looking at the 20s. Had a passenger yesterday for the first time in 3 years on the Ultra and kept wishing I had another Ural.. great two lane backroads would have been perfect.
Miles aka Kilometers

On a hiatus to try out hacking my Harley after owning and loving a 2007 Gear Up, 2014 Patrol, and a 2016 Gear Up. If a Harley/Hannigan rig doesn't make me feel like my Urals did I will be in the market for a black with white pin stripes Retro.

The bike is a screamer. Wife is used to chugging along on my old 06. I hit some back country roads yesterday and was not paying attention to the speedo was just enjoying digging into the curves when the wife started pointing at the speedo making frantic jabbing motions......................I was going 65+ on a road rated for 45 mph. The new Urals are so smooth you don't even notice how fast you are going. Guess I need to dial it back a bit..................afterall happy wife, happy life. Trouble is I got to stay in 3rd all the way up to 55mph otherwise I risk lugging the engine.

55 is my shift point with a fully loaded Ural (I am no small person and my wife is 6 ft).

That is 5150 rpm. As max running unloaded is 4950 (though temp is a variable) that is still under max hp (no curve for the 2019+) so its a guess.

Having worked with engines a lot of years, my guess is the 2019+ has a lot less piston slap with the band on the it.

I also used the 55 coming in from the states as I hit both nasty headwinds and some steep hills up in the Matt Valley (old WWII cow road sections up there) - narrow, heavy traffic on my bumper and no place to pull off.

My take is use it if and when you need to and don't push it. Been up to 75 to take tack data and see how it did for a pass. Nice. No issues, cool day, did not sustain it but as the Heidle U tube showed, it certainly had the feel it would do 85.

Tac data shows that would be 6100 rpm.

Guess I need to change my riding habits. On my old 06 I never had to look at the speedo. I could tell how fast I was going by the sound of the engine. At 60+ the Russian gears in the tower would let me know. Trouble with the 20 models is they are so freaking quiet, I have to look down at the decals to check that I am indeed riding a Ural

Sweet. Never had an older Ural so this is the norm for me. Compares very favorably to the R80GS from my perspective and as I was more than happy with that, the 2019 is good for me.

I must say, I love my 2019 Gear Up, however, with the exception of much better workmanship, not much different. 3350 Miles in 11 months and still loving it. Long live Ural!

Keep those 2020 love reviews coming WEGUNTER. It's folks that have or had an older Ural previous and had a good experience with them and then took the plunge for a 2020 like you did... those comparisons mean the most.
I've decided that when this current endless Ground Hog Day that we are living in eventually ends, I'm going to go look at one. Big move for me because I love my 2007.
Congrats and Ride Safe, Healthy & Happy
