Best guess is John BG is dealing with bigger issues right at the moment. May have to wait until after the hurricane passes by.

Like I already posted earlier, if most of IP addresses are from Russia, then just ban Russian IP addresses from being able to do new registrations. Deny new registrations from Russia. This will not do any harm to already existing Russian members. Or maybe just make moderator manual approvals for Russian IP ranges, geolocation tags.
Yes, hackers will use "VPN to come around" some other corners (countries).

reCAPTCA is a lighter version of CAPTCHA...
There might be some open source (free) security management software or a plugin out there to automate all this instead of manual warfare.

We are under a massive spam attack. I have been deleting spam posts as fast as they come in (and banning the user) since last night. All of it appears to be Russian in origin. If you stumble across a spam posting report it at once. Under no circumstances should you open one of the links with the postings or you might as well throw your computer in the pool (along with the microwave, vacum cleaner and anything else electronic).
how are you doing that? you're not a moderator...
...and you have only posted three times since joining...15 minutes ago. :?

the bots get more brazen the more they can come in without any hurdle.
They register and start spamming within minutes now.
And all you moderators do a brillant job! A flagged spam post disappears only minutes after reporting. Doesn´t matter what time in the day.
Hats off!!!

You guys doing Gerat. Keep zapping those cockroaches like Men in Black.

Most likely, they have found a hole. I mean The Virtual Wathering Hole. Or are they posting anywhere else besides?

Since I m thinking our host server shows each of our IP addresses, I asked JohnBG if we could ban the IP if the spammer ID s are from the same device. You know registering and then using multiple names from one device. Sure would cut down on our Moderators time.

In the meantime I appreciate the reports and PM notifications. I'm getting better and quicker deleting the trash/spam. There's been a lot. Please don't comment on or in the posts. It just may be enticing the offender.

Moderators, go after the IP addresses. Think this is just a few IP's using multiple screen names.
