It wouldn't work that way for me. Push it down in one place, and it would pucker and lift in another, causing the bulb to cock out of square. It looked like if I cut it to release the tension, it would rest against the heat sink.

I've been running 3 of them between my M70s headlight and spotlight and the Patrols headlight here in the wet Northwest without the boots, and haven't experienced any issues, so I don't think its critical to solve.

Oh, and nothing to do with lighting, but that seat is a new Rich Maund butt-saver also. Made with aviation grade foam that is comfortable and solid.
Greetings,

That is a great looking bike.

Greetings,

Well... nicely done Sir. I liked this modification and knocked it out Sunday. Saved me a load of time doing the research because I definitely am a Lumen Nazi. I've got some research to do on the spotlight because I have different requirements I need it to do... (Thinking about swapping it with a GoLight) Here it is next to my C90. Which I also upgraded to LED's this weekend. Thanks for the post.

It’s been a while; I’ll have to take mine apart and check. I remember it being a snug push, but it worked as pictured above.

I’ve been using the Auxbeam /Hella H 4 for several years. It’s great!

One note: if you put the bulb in upside down (which is possible to do) the light pattern is screwed up and doesn’t have that nice cut off that still lights up street signs when on low beam. The fix is simple: just rotate the bulb 180 degrees in its mount.
