I pulled a screenshot from a video on Instagram. It looks like it has:
Odometer
3 separate trip meters
RPM
Clock
Max speed
Average speed
Temp (engine or outside)
At least that based on the text.

Any idea if these will be able to be used on older Urals?

I wonder why they made the speedo with the max speed indicated at 100?

Optimistic to say the least...unless they plan to do something in the future we dont know about yet...

Well I know that at least in 2014 they had a wire for tach out that terminated under the dash, which when compared to the 2017 wiring diagram runs from the same spot on the ECU, so I believe it is ready to go. The speed cable is different as in 2017 it uses an electric speed sensor but from the looks of the wiring diagram looks like it could be swapped for the earlier one depending on whether the new one still uses the gear drive and converts it or some other sensor that may or may not be easily adaptable to the old style.

Now for the bad, I assume there is a wiring harness quick connect plug that is used to connect all those wires to the speedo, so that is the biggest issue and needing to essentially rewire the harness on the earlier models into a single plug. For instance the harness on the 2017 only has a single ground for the entire speedo, gauges, lights, etc. where the earlier have two wires, hot and ground running to each indicator. I bet the wiring under the cover is much cleaner and streamlined with less wires needed and going into a single plug.

I kind of like the new gauge, definitely makes it cleaner and more modern, just can't decide if I like it on a Ural.

As a man that spends an inordinate amount of time in the headlight "bucket", messing with the speedometer and various wiring projects, I fully embrace the new speedometer. There should be so much room for activities in there now! Way to go, IMZ!

Now, if we could just get the rear caliper bleeder nipple on top or the parking brake to stay in adjustment or 75 more cubic centimeters of engine displacement...

Yeah, but Urals have had a 'CHECK ENGINE' light for the past three years...

Your joke would've been much funnier in 2014.

How did you get such a clean photo when the Ural (or maybe the speedometer only!) was going 70 MPH? The " 100" seems to be the default range of older speedometers in Kms...

Perhaps this speedometer Inoperative and had a stuck needle just for looks?

I wonder how the "lighting" is in the new unit at night? By "night" I mean darkness without much light, not like White Nights in St.Petersburg.
I wonder if it is readable...

Curious.

YMMV

Your right, it probably doesn't work, just there to remind you of the max recommended cruising speed, you just have to figure out when you reach it

That was during the turn on self check. They turned the key to on, and it does a self check; just like on modern cars.

Oh Great... a heckler.

If they use this new design to lose the headlight shroud and the current flat headlight shell and put a proper vintage looking headlight with that speedo mounted in the shell like earlier machines and /2 BMW's, then they'd really have something.

YES!

As soon as the bike is uncrated, assembled, and the battery is hooked up, the light comes on!

It stays on even if the ignition switch is off....

Perfect for the newbies...

Word on the street is Ural HQ is working on a retrofit kit so the new 2017 style speedometer can be installed on earlier models.

It won't be plug and play.......ie a speed sensor and wiring will have to be installed, but it should be a nice upgrade when the kit comes out.

Especially for those of us with 2014 or newer rigs.........we will finally be able to use that random tach signal wire just rattling around in the headlight bucket.
