If you all understood analog gauges, you would know the answer to why the dial reads 100.
Well, enlighten us, Obi-wan Gauge-knowy!

Electronics and Gauges 101........at what point on an analog gauge do you calibrate to read the most accurate?

Answer - The middle of the gauge.

So if a Ural speedometer goes to 100mph......it's most accurate reading is at 50mph.......where the Ural is most comfortable operating at.

Nice try. :P

But you're really referring to simple d'arsonval and other types of analog electronic and mechanical gauges.

But...if this (or any)gauge sweeps when the ignition is turned on, (called POST) its NOT a true analog gauge. It's almost certainly driven by a stepper motor controlled by a microprocessor and can be factory calibrated (or not) for any amount of accuracy or error. (re: DOT regs)

I owned 3 Harleys and 2 of them had 'Certified' speedometers. Since some models of HD are used in law enforcement, many of them include these speedometers as standard equipment even on regular bikes. They were true analog, and very accurate thru the entire range. The markings on the face of the speedometer had a slightly non-linear layout to accommodate the variance in needle movement.

Of course, tire wear can change overall speedometer accuracy to a small degree. But that is a whole new discussion....and on par with 'oil threads'!

I have never been a member of a forum that has had so many smart dudes! Will one of you just hack into the Russian system and figure out how to wire the new gauge into the previous models so we can hit the ground rolling at 52.08kph!

Also any any analog accuracy will be offset by a lack of resolution if there is excessive over range or any lack of needle sweep (degrees of allowable needle movement).
I may not be good, but I'm slow.

That second youtube clip doesn't seem right. I thought 2017 Ural cT now comes with a SC windshield but that custom 2017 Ural cT being tested didn't have one. Unless by "custom" they meant that they got rid of it...

That's Burt1713's new rig. It's all KINDS of custom! Don't judge a factory stock cT based on his Franken-creation.

And I really hope more people buy the 2017 cT's so that by the time I am ready to buy, IMWA will have gotten enough feedback to fix any issues in the 2017 version.
