Snow and sub zero temps so I stayed in. Frostbite is real low on my bucket list.

Did about 200 clicks in -18°C temperatures with windchill down to -29°C. Nice and warm with the Klim gear and just added Kolpin handlebar mitts. Now wearing thinner gloves than I did in the fall.

Normal winter weather for my commute here in Seattle, 45 deg and little bit of light rain.

Took a little ride in 30 degree weather after dropping my son off at school. I was supposed to be in Tampa for my fathers birthday but my flight was canceled and there was no way I would make his dinner with the flights available. It was sunny with a mild wind, the forecast the night before was for snow and rain. I organized a group ride for today and switched it to tomorrow so twice the fun! Had coffee and cake at The Market along with hardcore cyclists stopping to warm up.

. Later I found a little park with a gravel deadend and did some spin-outs. Have mud to prove it.

It was a beautiful day, but it was below freezing this morning. No problem. I rode about 70 miles to meet up with another Ural rider. This is my bike waiting at the intersection where we met.Image

Bill rides a Retro. We met and he led the way, 10-20 miles to a place for breakfast and coffee. I needed the coffee because I was really suffering from the cold. It was good to also let it warm up some before really heading out.
Image

After breakfast, we didn't get too far before Bill suddenly slowed down and pulled off the road. I noticed I gained on him quickly and never saw the brake lights. That's because his electrical went out. Everything. No spark. No lights, blinkers, or horn. Just dead. Bill looked at the fuses and found a dead 30 amp fuse.
Image

I rode back into town and bought some fuses at an auto parts store. Replacing the fuse had us back on the road again...... for about a mile. So Bill got in my sidecar and we rode to his house to get a recovery vehicle.
Image

That wasn't it.

We took his car and a neat 4' X 8' utility trailer he has. The sides come off and the Ural fits like a glove.
Image
Image

We then took his bike to the local salvage yard with an automobile crusher.
Image

No! We didn't do that! We got his bike back home so he can hopefully find the short and get his bike back on the road. What's really got me excited about all this is that there was a problem with a bike, but it WASN'T my bike!

Love to know what the problem was.

I don't have a 30A fuse on mine so would like to know what that's for too. :D

NB: there's a 20A fuse for the sidecar fuse panel, or there's supposed to be, altho I don't have the panel.

Yesterday's ride. Bill's Retro loses power about seven minutes in.
