They handed these out at our local WalMart today. Nice of them to think of us customers braving this virus crap and all. :-)

The one of the kids in the back of the pickup, I did that every Friday with some mates, being taken from school to do horse trekking, the stables owner would come and get us with the pickup. Be about 1970. :D

Red handled thing looked a bit like an ice pick. Figured that was for when none of the other things worked

Yep, make it the 1960's in Rural New England and the truck a clapped out rusty pre war American 1/2 ton and there would be up to 15 kids bouncing around in the back as it rattled & wheezed it's way to town for ice cream or something....

One more of those 'I can't believe we survived' things .

Good Times

Post by VWNate1 » Mon Aug 24, 2020 7:22 pm

My first ever vehicle was a rusted out 1959 Ford F100 base model step side, ex runway crash truck from Ayers AFB in Ayer, Ma.

The floors were gone by 1968 so I got it for free and used old license plates to make a new floor .

I'm sure you have many happy memories of rusted out Austins, Rovers and so on in the U.K.......

The Jolly Rancher factory was on my route back in the early ‘80’s... I got away from the loading dock one day whilst waiting for “my” shipment to be finalized... anyway, one of the employees there showed me the production line... they were making orange Ranchers that day... a river of orange candies were flowing down a stainless slide heading toward the sorting line... hundreds of thousands of ‘em...

He reached over and got me a handful.. hot off the press... something’s you never forget... :D
