Awhile back I volunteered to "babysit" my old dad's yellow lab for a bit. We had a few stuffed toys for my old dogs, in a wicker basket. The yellow lab immediately dove in and proceeded to chew the hell out of them, and his favorite part was to chew the eyes off the stuffed animals.
A couple days later I was in the yard and had the odd feeling I was being watched. Turns out I was right....

I had a yellow lab who knew no limits as to what she would eat. Her name was Elsie and her eating habits eventually killed her. She found an old, hard plastic frisbee in a field one day and decided to eat it. The sharp edges of the plastic caused internal bleeding and that was that.

On a different note, in an earlier emergency visit to a vet, the vet told me she had a separate savings account that was funded only by the eating habits of Labrador Retrievers (tennis balls, snail bait, large tree branches, rat poison, shoe leather, golf balls, rocks, hats ...). The vet had thousands of dollars in her account. Her plan was to donate it to an animal welfare group once she was ready to retire. That lab was one of the best dogs I've ever had but she sure was expensive with the veterinarians.

My Mom's Ranch dog , we'd lock in the garage with dinner at sundown, to be let out at Sun up. One morning we noticed Jake hadn't ate a thing and was acting somber. Upon looking we were surprised to find what we thought a chicken bone lodged in her throat, as she wasn't a chicken killer.

The vet pulled an entire cat jaw bone out that was embedded in the roof of her mouth.
