Wow. You're a far tougher man than I am, Chad! Just be careful and watch out for the crazies who don't know how to drive in the stuff!

That's the thing tho. Speshly the ones who believe 4WD also means they can stop as well.

Chad do you not have a bike cover?

I do..

Since the engine was hot after playing in the snow, I didn't cover it immediately. I just didn't feel like going back outside once the bike cooled down. :P

Hey, I AM one of the crazies!

I've got you all fooled! I have a windshield, but one of the mounts I made for it broke and I haven't made time to repair it. While it's technically an open-face helmet, by the time you add the balaclava face mask and goggles, there's little exposed skin. As for my attire, I have PLENTY layers of microfleece under that cozy w@*ed-cotton ensemble, coupled with toasty electric gloves and socks. Trust me: I'm PLENTY warm.

Here in Las Vegas, as far as im concerned winter is the best motorcycle riding weather, sure its a pain to put all the winter clothing on and the glasses do fog up, but its a controllable comfort. compare that to southern Nevada summer riding where by 10 am its so hot it takes your breath away and your skin starts to sizzle. Winter is my riding weather. just the opposite of Uralistas in the snow country i guess.

I guess it would be for you. :D

I don't want to go out unless it's >10°C.

I couldn't take the rest of your weather tho much too hot for me.

Reminds me I'm getting one o' them Bike Barns so waiting for it to cool down should no longer be necessary.

I've had mine out in weather from -5F to 105F. (-20C to 40C for you metric types). I ride year round here in the great midwest and can't be too picky about temperatures. Riding still beats walking and at least for around town it's much more fun than a car.

It stopped snowing with about 5" of accumulation and I was feeling better, so I thought I'd go out and see what the "low-rider" can do in the powder. The street-oriented Heidenau K28's got me about five feet further than last year, a new personal best, at 10 feet.
. . .
I put 'er in reverse and had a much better time whipping around the cul-de-sac, but overall, the venture was a failure.
Thanks for your painstaking and exhaustive research, whilst risking pneumonia.

Mine wouldn't get out of my driveway then. :D

I did wonder about the street tires.

-
I can ALWAYS get out of my driveway. It is 225' long down-hill driveway, pretty steep descent. The problem is getting BACK UP the driveway.

Ordinary street tires on 4Runner won't make it. They hafta be real aggressive snow tires. I learned that the hard way with brand new tires. Luckily, I went back to tire dealer and they took the tires back. I bought agressive tread ones and everything OK. BTW, I never had a tire shop take tires back before!!! :boogie:

Same with 2WD GU. It really needed the 307s on 2 drive wheels to get up the hill. I was too lazy to put one on the front.

YMMV

Finally got around to mounting a windscreen with a Laminar Lip added for good measure.....should have done this long ago....live and learn. Also added a K+N air filter to complement the recent addition of my two into one exhaust. I never really got a chance to test it out until tonight....quite the difference! The beast pulls through the gears like never before.....it's so much fun, I'm afraid my mileage will drop due to my wanting to twist the throttle way too much  I think jumping the "Y" where the pipes come together from one and a half inch to two inch made all the difference.....It can breathe without restriction.

Bought an do atv cover and covered the little fella in the cold shop. May take it out for a run today as it's near zero (freeze point).

Hi 54vintage, which model of lip did you use? I would like to do that to mine as well. Thanks.
