Re: ATV CR High Handlebars

Less leverage builds muscle strength / tone.
You bring up a valid point. Of course, there's something to be said for having some influence over the direction of the bike.

With the Renthal bar, the bike feels more like this...

Re: ATV CR High Handlebars

keep in mind... the "Recoils" are pretty sticky. Thanks for the heads-up, Lew. The grips should arrive next week. 'Til then, I'm just gonna keep evaluating the new arrangement. I already miss the leverage I had with the stock handlebar, but I've got to ride more to see if I miss it enough to try th...

Re: Master Power Switch

It would be preferable to add the switch to the positive side of the battery, since the negative side is chassis ground, but, really, it doesn't really matter. The Google-machine explains it better: Typically the negative terminal is ground. So if you put the switch, fuse there (on the return path) ...

I went and practiced my flying a bit
Not too shabby. Now try going counter-clockwise! The left turns are a little trickier, IMO.

Re: Hack AC

Wait, so, let me get this straight... the fan blows air down into the top of the cooler, which is filled with ice... and the ice-cooled air blows out the two PVC pipes on the cooler's side? So simple! Ingenious!

Re: Found this next to my Ural

Well, in the spirit of posting images of British and Japanese vehicles, I'd just like to share that I have an affinity for the Morgan three-wheeler: Morgan-3-Wheeler-front-three-quarters-low.jpg Morgan-3-Wheeler-front-three-quarters-top-view1.jpg 02-1298568535.jpg I don't have $50,000 - $70,000 to b...

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Installed an aluminum Renthal handlebar with a more wrist-friendly bend, adjusted the throttle cable so the cT will idle properly ( no more dying at stoplights ), and removed the bike fairing and hack windscreen. The bike is noticeably faster ( and noisier ) without windscreens! 2016-05-29 22.00.47....

Re: ATV CR High Handlebars

I went ahead and ordered the Recoils, Lew. You "sold" me on 'em. I left the pillow-top grip on the left side and reinstalled the stock grip on the throttle ( at least, 'til the Biltwell grips arrive ). I drilled an index hole for the throttle housing. Got it fairly close to where I wanted it, too......

Re: ATV CR High Handlebars

Windex is the hot tickey. Windex, eh? Who'd-a thunk it?! I'll give it a try. What handlebar configuration did you end up going with, Lew? The pillow-top grips are REALLY soft. I suspect that they'll wear out much faster than any of the multitude of grips I've used in the past. Your Biltwell Recoil ...

Re: ATV CR High Handlebars

I've finally gotten around to experimenting with handlebars. I ordered the MSR ATV High, like GillaFunk, and the Renthal ATV High in an effort to find a better wrist position for me. If the C.R.A.P. was any reflection of the greater Ural owner population, then an overwhelming majority of Ural owners are military veterans.

Re: What did you do to your Ural today?

Rode Colonial Parkway with the missus and the dog, and Lokiboy and his dog Sammy on his rig 'Erika' as our tour guide. It's a gorgeous ride, but the tunnel traffic getting there and surface street road construction was a real buzzkill. Also, my cT will absolutely not idle in warm weather. Any other ...

I'm on the wrong coast to help you with your arrival or local Ural hunt, but if you find yourself making a 4,373km trek to the Atlantic, let me know; we'll go for a spin!
